Last wire change today!

Went to the 'heaviest gauge' wire today. He didn't tell me exactly what it was, but wow, it's already starting to ache.

I have two power chains on top to help close up the gap between the lateral and the first molar on my right side (my canine was pulled). My laterals, which were completely twisted, are straight now, but are still hanging crooked. I go back August 2 for more tweaking, as the ortho put it.

I still have my button, glued to the inside of my mouth on the right side to help pull my jaw out just a little bit more. I was afraid I'd get another molar buildup this time, but I didn't so that made me happy. He didn't mention anything about my desired debanding deadline, so I'm thinking it's still too early to tell for sure. I expect we'll know more in August since that will be almost 2 months exactly from when I want them off. I certainly won't demand them off though, if treatment isn't complete. Just would like to have them off by my "golden" birthday (10/10/10).

So now I'm sitting here in the waiting phase, doing all I can and hoping I will regain the ability to eat solids before camping for four days this weekend!

    Oooo Denise I am so pleased for you, it sounds like you are in the finishing stages. The thick wire-which I have on now is a beast of a thing but the results are great. Glad those laterals have straightened out, mine were hanging funny but after a tweak they were ok in about 2 weeks. Its no biggie.

    Bunny, two weeks for your laterals to straighten?! That's so awesome!! I hope that's the case with me because they've been hanging crooked this whole time and it's driving me nuts. They are straight, just hanging at an angle. I go back in four weeks for tweaking so maybe that's when he'll start to work on that straightening. I absolutely can't wait to see those become straight! This is the part of my treatment where the suspense is starting to absolutely kill me.

    How awesome is that! I know you are SUPER excited at your progress. If I were you I would be doing my happy dance I can't wait until I can see the light at the end of my tunnel. Congrats and I hope that you are going toward your end.
