Howdy!

So, I have now had my Damon Clear braces for exactly 5 weeks. Throughout the last month I have had very brief moments of VERY minor aching in a few isolated teeth. Eating with braces is like riding a bike. It took a few days, but now I barely think about them when I'm eating. I thought about nothing but my braces for probably 2 straight weeks, and now I think about them quite a bit less. Mostly only when I'm meeting new people or friends that have not seen me since I got them on. That's when I become very aware of them and a little self conscious when I smile, talk, or laugh. My first adjustment isn't for another few weeks, Feb 27th. I'm very excited to start having adjustments, making progress, getting out of the initial "your braces are still brand new" phase. I've posted some pictures that I took today, exactly 4 weeks from the first set of pictures I took. There is no visible difference to me, which I expected since my teeth aren't noticeable misaligned anyway.

Sometimes I swear it's at least come DOWN getting closer to the wire. But I don't really remember what it was like before either. The angle of the photo is different and that makes it hard too!

So I'm a little older than your typical braces wearer, but I've always hated my teeth. I was given a plate to wear when I was 14, with a little screw thing I had to turn once a week or something, but it was bulky and smelly and I wasn't that motivated to wear it. It did improve my teeth, but I stopped wearing it too soon, so I've always been a bit crooked with a ma-hoo-sive overbite and a lot of top gum showing when I smile.

I got a bit of extra cash a while ago and decided to go for it. I'd heard of invisalign and it seemed a lot more manageable, so here I am, day one of my first tray.

I've found eating a bit of a challenge so far as the attachment thingies rub on the inside of my cheeks and my teeth generally feel a bit delicate having been shoved out of place. I've had to take some painkillers too as my mouth is really aching at present, and I'm finding it hard to concentrate on work. I'm finding myself playing with the surface of the trays too.

The whole not-drinking-or-eating (apart from water) with the trays in is going to be a bit of an adjustment for me. I'm usually a snacker and I do tend to drink tea and coffee between meals. Not any more I guess! Hopefully I might lose some weight in the tooth-straightening process too! :)

This morning my mouth was sore but now its 10:40am and I feel like I've been wearing them the whole week. Even when I took them out for breakfast it wasn't nearly as painful as taking out tray 2. :clapping: Yay for less pain.

In two weeks I go in for my cleaning and get my next 3 trays.

I experienced my first cracked tray yesterday. :( The good thing is, it was time for me to start a new set of trays last night, but now I'm a little nervous about this and future trays cracking.

Everything's coming along well. I am still not able to really see any progress, but I've had 2 people tell me that my teeth look "different".

I had my first 3-month cleaning since I've had Invisalign and the hygienist said that my gums and teeth look great and to "keep up the good work" Yay!!

I'm scheduled to visit my dentist to get my next round of aligners in two weeks. I don't know why....but I'm excited about that! :clapping: ttyl :bye:

Sixty percent of America's water supply is fluoridated yet there are no studies to prove that ingesting fluoride is beneficial. In fact studies prove quite the opposite. Studies prove that there is more than a 10% increase in cancer rates of people in fluoridated communities, increased bone fractures and it also does a lot of neurological harm. It also concentrates in the hippocampus. Girls in fluoridated communities go through puberty earlier also. In Animal studies, when given to pregnant females their offspring were observed to be hyperactive, when given to an animal after birth the animals behavior became apathetic. I have done a lot of studying on the subject and will not even give my children fluoride toothpaste. I think I used to by the nursery water with added fluoride for my daughter as a baby and the thought makes me sick. Trust me the more you dig into the subject the less you will want to use fluoride (even if it meant your teeth would rot out and that is definitely not going to happen anyways). The original study that got the fluoride ball rolling was done in Michigan, I believe, the study monitored cavities in citizens in two towns, one fluoridated the other not. After the study was over, they announced that the town, that was fluoridated, had a decrease in tooth decay; never mentioning the fact the the non-fluoridated community also had a decrease in tooth decay (only more so)! to find more info about fluoride you will probably need to look outside of any government or company sponsored information. You might also appreciate a lecture by a professor of the name Paul Connet.
