Invisalign-1st set of trays

So I'm new at this blogging stuff so please bear with me...I have never had braces before, so this is ALL new to me! I'm 22 years old (or at least will be in about 1 1/2 weeks) and already look pretty young for my age, so I felt regular braces would have made me look even that much younger! My ortho told me that I would be a great candidate for invisalign. My teeth are not horribly misaligned, (or at least in my opinion). The ortho said 6mm crowded both top and bottom, although the bottom teeth look much more crowded in my opinion. I also have an overbite. I started my invisalign treatment May 22nd, so as of today I am in my 9th day of my first set of aligners. I had a lot of problems with my jaw popping and catching, but my ortho seemed as though this didn't matter. As soon as he placed the aligners on my lower teeth, my jaw locked up! I mean I can open my mouth, but not all the way like I should be able to. I am able to open it a little more every day, but still not quite there yet... my next appt with the ortho is June 19th so if I am still having this issue I'll ask him about it then.

As of this point, I have experienced no real pain. I felt a lot of pressure the first few days, along with a very VERY slight lisp, but other than that, I think I made a good choice. I won't get my attachments until the June 19th appt, so we'll have to wait and see if that changes my mind!

Great you're going to be keeping a blog here frackgirl.

Good luck with your invisalign treatment and definitely talk to your ortho about your jaw, as this needs to be addressed, as you don't want any permanent damage to your jaw joints.

Take care and keep positive!

Your teeth look good. How long do you need invisalign? Good luck.

Oh yeah, I probably should have mentioned that in the blog, told ya I was new at this I will have 14 trays on top, 19 on bottom, although he said we will have to see if more "refinement" trays will be needed at the end of treatment
