    First off, I will admit that I haven't been on here as much as I would like. That being said, I went for my first wire change Jan. 4th and all I can say is WOW! I went from a half wire in the front of my top teeth to 18/25 stainless steel all the way around. OMG, how painful! All of my teeth hurt! The upside is that I lost a couple of pounds because of the discomfort of eating. I have seen so much movement in my top teeth I would almost be willing to take these little metal nuisances off my ...

  2. End of week one

    I have a question for you folks. Has anyone had a problem with dry mouth? Over the weekend, specifically Saturday night to Sunday morning (I had to work a 16 hour overnight shift), I had the worst dry mouth I have ever experienced! I drink a lot of water at work, as the air is very dry in my building. It just seemed like I could not keep my mouth moist! I tried everything; sucking on ice, sugar-free lifesavers, sour candies.     So, it's been 4 whole days since the uppers went on and yesterday while I was trying to eat dinner at work, I noticed something strange. My teeth no longer fit together! The front ones touch and my molars don't anymore. It happened so fast! I also developed a little anxiety when I realized that I am starting to get used to the hooked brackets in the back, and then realized that I am going to have to got through this adjustment allover again when the lowers go on.     It has officially been 25 hours since I had my upper braces put on, along with an archwire on the front six teeth. Here's how it has gone so far... The pain was almost non-existent until this morning, although the pressure incresed as the day wore on yesterday. I think that taking motrin every four hours really helped.
