First off, I will admit that I haven't been on here as much as I would like. That being said, I went for my first wire change Jan. 4th and all I can say is WOW! I went from a half wire in the front of my top teeth to 18/25 stainless steel all the way around. OMG, how painful! All of my teeth hurt! The upside is that I lost a couple of pounds because of the discomfort of eating. I have seen so much movement in my top teeth I would almost be willing to take these little metal nuisances off my teeth! On the downside, I was not bonded with the lowers at that appt., so I am only halfway straighter. I asked my ortho if he was going to bond at that visit and he said he wasn't quite satisfied with the movement on top, so no. Imagine my shock and disappointment; I thought my teeth were looking great! The one thing that really bugs me is how loose my teeth feel. It's a darn good thing these braces are keeping them where they belong! Anywhoo... next visit is Feb 15th and hopefully Mr. Man will decide to get the ball rolling on the bottom teeth. I am not looking for ward to another 6 week wait for the pain of eating. Till next time... G

Fantastic that you've seen so much progress, sounds like your top teeth are doing great things.

Hopefully when your lowers go on it will be a bit easier, coz you've been through the initial adjustment before. I found when my lowers went on (about six weeks after my uppers) the main issue I had was a 'full mouth' feeling. I found that drinking loads of water helped and I did use quite a bit of wax as I found the smaller metal brackets to be really pokey. It didn't take long for my mouth to adjust and my diet never really changed, except for drinking more water.

Good luck with your next appointment!
