So on Friday I had my impressions taken. I wasn't particularly worried beforehand, but did have visions of foul tasting gloop dripping down the back of my throat making me gag.

Turned out not to be nothing of the sort - no problem at all. He took 3 impressions of both sets, plus one biting together. Job done.

Also took a fair few photographs, and an X-ray.

I should comment a little further on the X-ray. My normal dental check-ups are with an NHS dentist. I haven't had any problems for many years, but neither has an X-ray been taken for as long as I can remember. Anyway, seems I have some root infection that will need treating at some point. Not massively urgent, and it won't affect the Invisalign treatment, just a fair bit of extra cost that I could do without. Privately I am being quoted £6-700 so I may look into seeing if that can be done on the NHS, although I have been told that they may only offer to perform an extraction rather than treatment so I may have to go private with the associated costs if I want to keep the tooth. Ouch.

So a bit of bad news for my wallet, but I guess it's good that I know about it and can make an informed decision on what to do.

On a positive note, I'm feeling more excited about my Invisalign treatment all the time, and now the ball is properly rolling I am especially so. Next stop will be to see the ClinCheck in a few weeks time.

I'll post some information on my background and the whole decision making process that I went through at some point in the meantime.
