Hey everyone.
I hate my braces.
I'm so frustrated, my dentist can't fit me in so I still have one bracket hanging off a wire that hasn't been fixed from like a month ago, and now another one broke off today. So I called my dentist and they have like, one appointment this week and then one next week, those are the only ones they have, two appointments in total. And I work both of those days, so I guess I have no choice but to have brackets hanging off my teeth.
The one that fell off today is at the front of my teeth so every time I talk, I can feel it.
I'm so frustrated with my braces, I never knew that brackets could just fall off your teeth like that. I'm feeling so negative about this whole thing now. I still pretty much have two years left and I can't be going to the dentist like twice a month every month, I have to work.
I just want to rip the braces off my teeth, I feel like giving up on the whole thing.

If you're not happy with him, you could always do what I did and swap orthos. If you still have that much time left in your treatment, it shouldn't be so hard to do.

I do like my ortho, it's just always so busy it's impossible to get an appointment. But i'm thinking that I should switch to a different one cause when a bracket breaks off I don't want to have to wait for two months, it's really uncomfortable.

This Dr. is working for YOU, not the other way around!! there are plenty well qualified orthos out there and you'll find another ortho who you will like and that will serve you better, at least someone who will be more available for your needs....You're investing time and money. I hope your journey to a perfect smile gets better soon good luck!!

I don't see why they can't just squeeze you in to reattach the brackets. I had one bracket pop off about a week after getting braced. I happened to already have an appointment scheduled for a couple days later, but it literally took about 5 minutes MAX to rebond the bracket. Shoot - I had ALL of my top brackets removed and replaced with clear ones, and that took not much longer than a half hour (for 9 brackets!) It seems silly that they can't fit you in just for two... I would voice that concern to him, and if his attitude is "Well, too bad..." then you should say, "Well... too bad for you, I'm finding another orthodontist."

Don't give up... there's always another solution.

Why can't you take the bracket off?

Were I work we have a busy practise with three ortho's, six ortho assistants and three admin personnel. We often have weeks were we don't have a spare appointment ... one of the disadvantages of being such a great practice.

Most days we have time when the ortho assistants can do work like clipping the archwires, replacing ligs etc. Our patients know that they should phone ahead to check there is some spare time, and even so they may still need to wait up to an hour, depending one what's happening.

When a patient calls due to a bracket having come off, we ask them to take it off the archwire if it's annoying them. Our brackets are easy to remove from the archwire ... and I hope your's are too. We rarely replace brackets without prior warning, as it takes time to have the equipment needed sorted. Bracket bonding appointments are quite different to adjustment appointments. We also schedule bracket bonding appointments in the morning, so that the patient can eat that evening.

Brackets can occasionally just pop off ... but that's rare. Mostly they come off due to something happening and mostly that's a result of something the patient has done. Often they've knocked the bracket off, or have loosened with a knock earlier and then it's popped off. Make sure you ask your ortho if there's anything you may have done to cause these brackets to come off. If they've come off due to pressure resulting from alignment issues, this will quickly improve, as alignment is quickly corrected.

    Good luck!

Hanabe, sorry you are going through this. As Sunny says, brackets can pop off. I popped a bracket in the beginning and the ortho told me it was common as sometimes the bonding of the bracket to the tooth was not succesful for one reason or another. I'm fortunate that my ortho's office is not too far from my office and they were good enough to accomodate me for both emergency and regular appointments. My ortho's office is never empty but they have always made time for any emergency I have had. Speak to your ortho's office about your concern and hopefully they will work with you to make sure you are taken care of.
