Hey everyone.
It's been one week since I got my braces on, they no longer hurt and I've started on the solid foods, woo hoo! Man did I ever miss food!
My boyfriend is fascinated by me having braces, he says "I know it's crazy and it's only been a week but I really think I can see some movement!" And when I compare at picture of my first day in braces and my 5th day in braces, I can see they're moved just a little bit. Isn't that crazy!?
So anyways, I'm no longer in pain, the only thing that hurts is when I wake up in the morning my cheeks are all torn up, it never happens during the day though but I don't really care. All I can think about is that in two years I'll have super nice straight teeth. And who wouldn't want that?

And I'm really looking forward to my first appointment, because she put brackets on all the teeth but the wires aren't on the ones at the back and now the wires that are like hanging off the brackets they're connected to (if that makes sense) are really starting to bother me. They're almost like a little door I have to open and get out pieces of food that got stuck. So I hope they change that, I think i'm getting a new wire that goes on all the brackets, I don't know.

How exciting!! It's so cool to watch your teeth move. I take pics of mine every month around the date of my banding (so every month around the 8th). I have 15 months worth of pictures now and watching them move is crazy! My husband wants me to do one of those videos at the end of my treatment that shows the teeth morphing from beginning to end. If I knew how to do it, I'd totally make one. Maybe I'll recruit one of my geek friends to make one. Sure would be cool to see Your teeth are going to rock!

That's a great idea! I would love to do a video at the end of it all, that would be awesome to see all the movement like that!!

It's fantastic to read that you're now feeling so good with your braces! Plus outstanding that you can see progress so soon ... a great motivator!

Make sure you keep well hydrated and I recommend you put some wax on the offending brackets before going to bed, so that your mouth can toughen without getting cut up. Each time it gets cut up, it has to go through the whole healing process again and there's always the risk of infection. Once it's toughened by using the wax, this hopefully won't happen very often.

If the archwires stick out too far at the back and stab you, there a chance a sore will develop. Give your ortho's office a call and ask if you can call in to have the archwires clipped. This is a common thing and something that you don't have to be concerned about asking for. Plus it shows progress!

    Good luck!
