So today I got my braces put on, it was a long process, it felt like it would never end.
My mouth felt okay at first and now i'm really uncomfortable, I feel like I have some huge pieces of metal sticking right out of my mouth, and they're already cutting the insides of my cheeks.
I like how the top six are clear, I can hardly see them, they're amazing =O I didn't think they would be that clear, but I love them.
So anyways, my teeth already feel like they're moving, whenever my teeth at the front touch together they feel tender but I guess i'll get used to that.

I'm really hungry but too scared to eat, and I don't want to mess up my teeth/braces cause then i'll have to spend forever cleaning them. I guess i'll just live on smoothies and slurpees.

That's pretty much all

HAHAHA! I remember when I first got mine too that's what I thought too... UNTIL!!!! I seriously call my braces 'the best not on purpose diet ever' because all I could get in my mouth for the first couple of weeks were soft foods i.e. mashed potatoes, soft fruits, apple sauce and drinking stuff through straws.

No worries though it will get better and you will be able to almost eat everything that you used to. As far as the cleaning you have to prescribe to your own way of doing things... as long as you get it in you will get used to it.

Best of luck and welcome to the 'Pretty Future Teeth Club'

No worries! Like Michelle said, the tenderness and soreness does eventually go away. It takes a while for the sores to heal, and for your cheeks to get tough, but it will happen and you'll be back to eating almost exactly like you were before! You'll quickly learn there are foods to avoid eating in public, because they can cause a lot of gunk in your brackets that may be hard to get out right away, but these are all things you will learn in time. Just remember that the pain you'll feel in the next few days/weeks will most likely be the worst pain you have through your whole treatment Welcome to the club!!

Good luck with adjusting to the new feel in your mouth.

Chewing is an important tool to encourage movement, so the sooner you chew the better for your mouth and teeth.

    Good luck!
