Hey everyone!
I haven't blogged in a while, I've been pretty sick and haven't really had the time.
I had my first adjustment on the 9th, which was interesting. It seemed like my dentist was disappointed with my teeth, he didn't say anything positive at all. Well, he said I'm doing good with brushing but could be doing better, and then because I had three broken brackets, he told me I should have come in right away to get them fixed, and I might have my braces on for longer than anticipated. I tried to tell him (I had four big pieces of cotton, and a sucky thing in my mouth) that I had called to make an appointment and they had 0 appointments! And there's not much I can do, as I have to work most days too, I definitely don't have alot of free time to go to the dentist when my brackets break. I know that's bad!
But anyways, I personally think my teeth have improved a lot, I guess my dentist didn't think so though. He makes me dislike him more and more every time.
So since my adjustment, my teeth have been hurting every day, I've lost weight 'cause I can't eat, and I've just generally been sick and have no energy. Well, I'm just assuming that's because I haven't been eating. So I'm really hoping my mouth feels better soon!

Good luck!! It can be a very frustrating time in the beginning. There's no reason for you to be losing weight tho. There's a lot of foods you can eat that don't hurt your teeth. And you should be drinking protein shakes and/or V8 to help with your protein and vegetable intake if you aren't physically eating them. Try eating potatoes, beans, shredded/boiled chicken, pasta, noodle soups of any kind, puddings, etc. I hope you start feeling better soon!!

sorry that your adjustment wasn't the best, but maybe your ortho was having a bad day, not that it's an excuse to behave poorly with patients.

If another bracket comes off (and here's hoping it doesn't) ... call ... and if you can't get an appointment, please tell the person you're speaking to, to make sure your ortho knows you've made the phone call, due to what happened at this adjustment.

Please take good care of your self and make sure you eat well. If you can't chew with ease, then make smoothies with protein powder and other goodies, so that you're loading yourself with the vitamins and minerals you need to keep yourself healthy. Maybe consider a multi vitamin if you don't feel loads better quickly.

I'm pleased you happy with your progress!
