heeeeeey,

I just got back from the dentist where i had my teeth out! It wasn't fun to say the least.

firstly, I made my dad stay downstairs cos I don't like being vulnerable around my parents.

My dentist numbed me up, only 1 of the 4 injections hurt.

we waited for like 10 mins.

then i put my music on and she began.

she took the left tooth out first and pulled it from side to side. this was completely painless.

before i even knew it, it was out!

then she moved to the other side, but that hurt. so we waited and then she tried again.

she pulled it from side to side and after a few seconds longer than the other one, it was out too!

it was actually worse than i thought it would be and i was shaking like crazy. I could still hear like a cracking sound as it moved from side to side.

So, now i'm home with my feet up and my mouth hurts quite a bit.

I'm scared to touch the holes made cos the tissue is bruised and does hurt a bit!! and my teeth do feel like they're all wobbly, but i know they're not.

I'm gonna have some paracetamol now for when the anesthetic wears off.

it really feels like the start of getting braces now.

Ugh, worst experience ever being awake during tooth extraction.

Sorry to hear that you experienced some pain during the process. My oral surgeon gave me some Motrin (an anti-inflammatory) before I headed home, maybe that's why I didn't feel any pain? I'm surprised that the dentist didn't give you another shot of Novocaine after the first attempt at the right tooth hurt. You really aren't supposed to feel pain during the extraction process. If the paracetamol didn't help that much and you have any swelling, you might want to try taking an anti-inflammatory like Nurofen instead. Just don't take it on an empty stomach. It helped me with the post extraction soreness. Also salt water rinses will help your gums feel better (plus they help prevent infections!).

Try to avoid touching the holes from the extraction site with your tongue. I too was a bit paranoid about this. Just try your best to leave it alone and let it heal and you should be ok. And be very gentle when brushing around the extraction site...don't worry, some bleeding around there is normal. Most importantly, stay away from straws! There's this nasty and painful condition called dry socket that drinking from straws can provoke, so avoid them like the plague until it's fully healed.

Hope you feel better by now. Hang in there. You took the first HUGE step.

thanks :) yeah- I tried the salt water and thought it was disgusting but I'm gonna stick with it :/ And Even though I knew about the straw dangers, I still used one without thinking at lunch so? Idk, but I'm gonna get some anti-inflammatory :)
