Funny term in ibraces

Two months ago I had ibraces brackets put on both my top and bottom archs. Yesterday I went back to my orthodontist for routine adjustment. It's always a surprise to find out what they will do to my teeth -- my orthodontist doesn't update me what's going on and she mostly just talks to the techs and walk away. and I figure out what's going on by listening to their conversation. Of course it's hard to ask question when they were discussing my case because they were digging in my mouth.

anyway found out that they wanted to play with my rotated teeth (upper 4's) yesterday. That was pretty intense, as compared to my first visit. I didn't take any painkiller beforehand because I didn't remember any pain during my first visit. but i guess now that my teeth have been moving they are already sore and so any tweaking with my teeth must be really bad.

so the tech hooked a transparent wire on my rotated tooth on the left, wrapped the wire all around tooth and exerted heavy torque to made me want to scream but i held on tight and stayed quiet. I can't explain very accurately how they did it, maybe some of you can describe that better. When the tech finished the tie she told everybody that she just did a "chicane". again i might have the term wrong that was the best i could remember. I thought the tech made up the term but she showed me this term in her ibraces manual.

I typed chicane in google and found the term used in car racing and lane shape, in which there are many turns. so i guess chicane is a good descriptive term to describe the technique used to turn a rotated tooth back to the normal position.
