So it's been five months since I had my traditional braces put on and I've had my monthly change of ligatures today. My dentist has told me that she will be performing Interproximal reduction (IPR) on my teeth next month. Anyone got any stories about having IPR done on their teeth? Pros and cons?

Ok so I had my monthly checkup today, where my dentist puts new ligatures on my brackets, and she did a scale of my teeth. I think that she has created a black triangle inbetween the two front teeth on the bottom, because it definitely wasn't there before I went to the dentist and it's certainly there now!

It looks like shes either chipped my tooth or cut off the top of the gum inbetween the two teeth.

Had my first set of wires changed on Monday. Now all my teeth are in the wire and kept in with a rubber ligature. Where before two of my teeth were kept in the wire with another wire.

I was getting used to my other wires, now these new wires are hurting my teeth a little bit more than the others did.

My friends are saying that I'm sounding different now, like I'm drunk lol

Last night I went out for a meal and I think it must have been one of the small chicken pieces that I ate, because I could tell it was a bit hard, but I chewed it a couple of times and thought nothing of it. A few minutes later I could tell there was something not right. So I went to the toilet and one of my ligatures (which was a wire wrapped around the bracket on my lower left no. 5) had dissappeared and the wire was out of the bracket.

Had my second the other day and it went well. Still got two brackets on wires instead of ligatures, but they are getting closer so I think maybe next month they will both be on ligatures.

I can definitely notice the difference on the bottom set of teeth, but the top don't look any different to me. Do the top move slower or something?

I asked my dentist how long she thinks I've got (after two months I know lol) and she wouldn't commit to anything. She estimated 18-20 ...

Had my first adjustment the other day. It wasn't that bad, my teeth felt like they were being tightened together. But they are ok now.

I asked my dentist if she could see if my teeth had moved, she said they've moved a little but I would really see the movement after about three months. So I'll see what they're like in two months time! I really should be taking pictures :-s

I've had my braces on for one week now and I've got 19 months and 3 weeks to go! They are settling down a bit now but I am still a bit depressed about having them on. I know it was my decision but I have been putting it off for over 10 years and it should be over and done with by now

I am just missing eating normal food, and because I have a really big sweet tooth I am desperately missing chocolate/ sweets and the like. I'm just going to have to find some sugar free hard sweets ...
