So this is my first blog on hereSomeone said I should get one so here I am. This is probably gonna be a bit long so I recommend getting a snack now
So this whole thing started February 10th, 2005 when I got my braces. After a while I got my wisdom teeth removed October 17th 2007 when I was 13 years old. The oral surgeon put me out and dug my wisdom teeth out. This was only the beginning of my oral surgeries. Actually when I was younger he had to cut part of the thing that holds your tongue down (below the tongue) so that I could touch my tongue to the top of my mouth.
Anyways, on Monday July 14th 2008 I had jaw surgery. I needed it to correct my 'gummy smile' (You could see excess gum above my top teeth when I smiled) Corrective Jaw Surgery | AAOMS.org (link explaining w/ pic explaination) They also added a plate to my chin to make it larger.
My surgery was supposed to take 2-3 hours, it ended up taking 6 hours. The surgeon had to redo in a few times because it came undone. And I ended up needing half a bag of blood.
For some reason they did not keep my parents updated for some reason. My parents sat there not knowing what was taking so long and didn't tell them I needed blood untill after I already got the blood or they would have given me blood.
I stayed in the hospital until the evening of Wednesday July 17th, and I had to eat a liquid diet through a syringe. When I went home I had to sleep in a recliner for a few weeks. In 2 weeks I lost 15 pounds on a liquid diet.
I am now back to normal after about 6 weeks of recovery. Here's some pics:
