Hello sweet Braces group!
I feel pretty bad today!
Yesterday I had my right bottom wisdom thoot removed with surgery...Everything was good till this morning...My thong was still frozen! So I first thought it was still the anastesic (is that an english word?) Then, all day long, Its stay like paralysed and when Im trying to eat someting and strech my thong a little, its like burning or elctric shock on that side!!!! Soemone told me dentist might have cut a nerve while removing my thoot!!!
Does anyone had similar situation as mine? Is it normal? Am I gonna have fucked up thongue and mouth for ever???? Is it normal too that I cant open my mouth (just a little) and I have that huge swelling??? Ok, its not even 24 hours I had the surgery BUT ITS MY RIGHT to freak out!!!

Please....H-E-L-P

hi - sorry to hear you're going through this.

I don't know what's going on in your situation but I can tell you a bit about mine. I was put under anesthetic (I was completely unconcious, I don't know if they used a local anesthetic as well) during my surgery as well. Once it was over, I was a bit groggy because of the drugs I was on but felt ok. I was on strong pain killers for three days after surgery and lower grade prescription pain killers afterward and barely able to open my mouth for a little while.

One thing my dentist did do was give me his home phone number if anything felt strange at all. I never called him at home but did book myself into an early follow up appointment.

Please give your surgeon a call, as although I had my widom teeth removed in by my dentist, the anesthetic wore off quite quickly and my mouth felt fine. I had pain meds to take, which I think I took for about two days ... and never felt a thing.

I agree with lemon tree, that the swelling will be affecting your ability to open your mouth, but still discuss this with your surgeon.

Good luck and I hope you're feeling much better after you've had a talk to the person who removed your wisdom tooth.

So its sunday and My thongue is still with no sensations at all, and I have that bad liquid and tase going out of my stiches (but no fever) i think I might have an infection and my nerve have been touched during surgery. Im mad because its not a surgeon, but a dentist Ihave been refered to by my freind, and now, I really regret. I save 200$ but I played with my health? Anyways all that situatoin affect my mood right now, im stressed and sad

I understand your frustration! I was warned by many people not to go to a dentist to have teeth removed, so I did pay the $350 out of pocket that my insurance didn't cover, and paid to have the oral surgeon do it. My surgery was perfect, no nausea, no pain at all. Healed right up. Please call your dentist right away, pain is the only way your body can tell you it's in trouble, so definitely have it checked out and GOOD LUCK!

yikes - bad taste and anything oozing out is never a good thing! I would call your dentist and have it looked at ASAP! Would even consider going to a different to have it looked it if they're not available.

Jessica I had my four wisdom teeth removed by a dentist and the job was an excellent one and I never had any problems. My daughter had to go to a surgeon, due to needing to be totally 'knocked out' as all four teeth needed to be cut out of her gum and jaw. She too had no problems.

Hopefully you'll get back to your dentist quickly and have the area checked and it's something that can be quickly helped. Sometimes the blood clot is accidently removed and this can cause problems ... or there may have been some type of infection present before your tooth was removed and you may need to take some anti biotics to get rid of that.

Good luck ... but please let the dentist help you get this sorted!

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your tips and advise. I actualy took an emergency appointement with my usual dentist after work. I still have my right side numb but even if I dont have any sensation, I stil have taste. I wish its posisitve. Concerning the sentist, I should have go with my surgeon (Im actually having my 2nd appointement with him for othognatic surgery this wednesday) Ill ask him advise, but for sure he will be mad to see how I messed with my mouth! Too late now. The sensation of a heart beating and the pain in my thoot area (plus bad smelly liquid) just makes me feel its getting ^retty bad there...Hopefully, my dentist will fix that tonight! Plus, that thoot surgery and the strechning in my mouth gave a a small cold sore in the corner of my mouth...what a week!! Only positive thing about it: I think its kind of cute tlaking with my numb thongue, makes me talk like a kid.. annnd oh! I am going to see Mariah Carey this thursday 9totaly out of topic but makes my weel feel great)!!! Ill keep you posted after Ill meet my surgeon! Have a nice monday everyone!

Good luck with your meeting with your dentist. Hopefully things will improve quickly after that. Dentist's are trained to remove teeth, unless they require surgery, so don't be too tough on yourself, as you probably did choose the right person to do the job.

Hope your meeting with your surgeon goes well and have a great night at Mariah's concert!
