so... i have to say that with braces i am a total freak when it comes to cleaning. i can't really say that for before i had braces put in. i didn't floss at all in my life. i tried to once after a cleaning at the dentist. (the next night). and well i got one tooth done and it was bleeding real bad and it hurt and i was totally not coordinated enough to get my hands straight.

but now it is a total turnaround! it was hard to floss the first night i had braces(first night i flossed). i knew it had to be done, and i knew i had to have help. so my wife did it for me

the next night i was determined to do it myself! so i picked up my glide threading floss, and i did every crease except for 4. i couldn't get into them cause the fit was so tight.(they were hard to get to cause they were in the back) a few days ago i was able to get into all but one. two nights ago i got so frustrated that i almost shredded the floss trying. but hey... i did it last night i was able to a little easier. but tonight... not so much. i couldn't do it.

i still have no clue wether to use my prescription fluoride toothpaste before or after i floss. i use the toothpaste before i floss right now. i am thinking i will switch though cause i loose the taste of the toothpaste(which i have come to enjoy)

welp 15 days with braces so far. seems like a good choice to me

It's great that you've now become such a great flosser ... bet your gums are thrilled!

Where I work, we recommend ... brush, floss, mouthwash ... mouthwash being last, as it has fluoride and needs to stay in contact with the teeth for as long as possible ... preferrably at least 30 minutes. I'm sure it wouldn't matter if you flossed first ... but talk to your dentist or ortho and listen to what they recommend.

Good luck with your treatment going smoothly!
