My next adjustment is a week from today and I'm excited. I'll go in that morning and have my wires taken out. Then I'll go to the dentist and get my teeth cleaned. After that, I'll go back to the ortho and get my missing bracket put on and wires put back in. I'm having a little bit of pain with my bands rubbing bad sores on my tongue so I'm planning on asking to have the 3 bad ones fixed. I called them this morning so they know about it. They said that if my tongue gets cut and starts bleeding, that I'll come in this week to have those fixed. I'm hoping I won't have to though since I'm just over and hour away. Also, I'm so tired of this gap I have in my lower arch so I think I'll also ask about when that will be fixed. Call me crazy, but I want a powerchain.

Otherwise, things are going good. I'm getting where I look in the mirror and don't even see my top braces. Gotta love ceramics!

Okay... YOU'RE CRAZY!!! LOL!! Then I am, too, because all I want to see are gaps (little ones, not the cavernous one from my extraction!), and a big ole clear or silver powerchain across the whole row. I am so strange... He told me gap would take a LOOONG time to close, so I could stop asking "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Plus, I just noticed yesterday that even though my canine is taking its sweet old time moving... the back molars on the other side of the gap have actually been moving in without my noticing. (He's so good at proving me wrong...!)

It's really nice to not see your top braces, too, isn't it? My ortho asked me to smile last week, and said, "Can hardly even see them!" I told him I loved them to death; that it was the best decision I'd ever made (next to actually getting braced in the first place). It's also good incentive to brush more often, as my teeth stain easily and I want everything to look purty.

I hope they're able to do something about your bands. Do your bands have little hooks or something on the inside of the tooth, on the tongue-side? If so, YIKES, that sounds painful. Mine don't have anything, but I can certainly feel the bands there.

You sound so happy now - and I'm very happy for you.

Fantastic taht things are going well! Definitely ask to have the cleats on the inside of the molar bands flattened or removed. Plus it's fine to ask about the gap, as then you have some idea when work will be happening to it. It may be soon, or it may be later in your treatment ... better you know now!

Powerchains are great, but they're only one of many ways a gap can be closed!

Here's to heaps more progress and that gap being gone real soon!

I did go on Wed. and have the cleats removed. He isn't used to people still having them on bands. I "drilled" them off and now my bands so much more smooth. He also mention the gap on his own and said he might "fix me up" with powerchains and rubber bands on Mon. I'm excited and hope that I get them!

Fantastic that you got those annoying cleats removed Jenn!

Great news that your gap may soon disappear! Good luck with the powerchains and elastics!
