I went to the ortho this past Wed. I had my "de band check" and it went great! They had to take off the power chains and take the lower arch wire out. Then they made a mold for my permanent retainer. Putting the wire back in was horrible. I also decided that since it was my last few weeks of braces, that I wouldn't do clear or silver power chains this time. I opted for lavender on top and kelly green on bottom. I also now have to wear 4 rubber bands till my debracing date. I don't like ...
I have rubber bands and I swallowed 2 of them yesterday. Then a few hours after I swallowed the 2nd one, I started feeling bad and having intestinal cramps. Can swallowing rubber bands do this? I'm worried but not worried. Good news is that in 5 weeks (*crosses fingers*) I won't have to worry about braces anymore. Ok, my rant for the day.
I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I went in to see the ortho for my scheduled check. I got to keep one of my rubber band configuarations and then got a new one on the other side. I told him that when it got time to schedule for my molds date, that I needed to go ahead and schedule my debracing date at the same time due to work. He asked me if I'm ready to get them off and I told him that I was but only if he was happy with my teeth. He's more than happy right now and doesn't forsee any ...
It's been a while since I last posted. So much has happened since then. First, my grandmother passed the morning after my last my post. It's been hard, but at least she's no longer suffering. We've been trying to get her house cleaned up and ready to sell asap. Second, I finally got a job. I go for orientation is week and will probably start next week. I'm excited to start work and get on a schedule again. I'm also glad that I'll be able to pay my own bills again. ...
So I went to the ortho, surgeon, and dentist today. I talked to the ortho about the 2 "hard spots" in my mouth. Turns out that they're roots that have bent wrong. He put kinks in my arch wire to try to fix it. I'm also on back rubber bands again to try to pull my back 4 teeth together. He's also keeping me on powerchains. He said I've also got a minor crossbite and he's debating putting me on an arch expander to fix it. I didn't think those would work for adults past 18. ...
I went in for my first post surgery ortho appt. today and it was great. I powerchains off and the 8 extra hooks they put in for surgery. I had forgotten what my mouth looked like without chains. My teeth are aligned now, but now there's issues with my 4 molars (missing 8 teeth) not touching. So we have to get them to drop/raise. Also my mid line shifted some so that's being fixed. I'm wearing 2 extra strong rubber bands and hate them. Good news is once these things ...
I don't have good internet access at home so I'm not getting to post much anymore. My swelling is gone so much that only people who really know me know I'm still slightly swollen. I also got my hair cut the other day and afterwards went to the store. When I told the cashier I was a on a liquid diet and why, she said "at least you got your surgery done before starting college in the fall." Turns out she thought I was 18! I'm almost 30! Anyway, maybe once the swelling is totally ...
First of all, my gap is barely visible so I'm confident it will be closed in the next 30 days. I got my letter in the mail yesterday detailing my appointments leading up to the surgery. I have a checkup/physical with my surgeon and a pre-admittance appointment with the anesthesiologist on May 10. Then I have to be at the hospital at 5:15 the morning of May 17 for the surgery. I'm kinda nervous but very excited! I probably won't blog anymore between now and then ...
I called my ortho's office yesterday to see about getting in there next week to get this gap finished up. I wasn't sure if I should since I have an appointment the first Mon. of May, but they said that since my jaw surgery is coming up so soon, that I needed to get in there next week. I'm glad cause I can't have surgery till this gap is gone. I'm getting nervous that the date will have to be moved back. Also, I have a question for y'all. Is it ok to give your ortho a graduation picture? ...
When I first got braces, I knew that I would see a drastic difference after my jaw surgery, but I didn't know that I'd see a huge difference before then. I had a friend of mine take some professional quality pictures of me last winter and then she took some fun pictures of me yesterday (to send to friends with graduation announcements). Looking at the photos, I see a major difference in my facial structure. What do you think? IMG_0664.jpgJenn's Photo Shoot - Apr. 2 (63).jpg ...

I had a "follow up" appointment with my surgeon today. He said things have progressed a whole lot faster than he would have expected when I first saw him. He thinks this is partially due to me changes orthos. They did some xrays and then I got to talk to him. Before I left, the date for my surgery was set. It will be on May 17, 10 days after college graduation. I'll go in early in the morning, go through 2-6 hours of surgery, and then stay in the hospital till probably sometime the next ...
Well before last adjustment I broke a powerchain, took it off, and then ended up loosing a month because the new chain had to do the work the broken one had already done. Today, I was eating cheese curls and pretzels (like I do almost everyday at school) and I noticed a weird moving motion in my mouth. I have a molar bracket that is loose! I'm going in a little bit to get it fixed and probably get a new chain while I'm at it since I'm due for one in a week anyway. I hope that nothing ...
Had my adjustment yesterday. It went about as I expected. I told him that my power chain broke Sat. night so I took it off and then my gap reopened. He laughed at me and said that he's never had a patient figure out how to get a power chain off. What can I say, I'm always doing the unexpected. Also, he said that this might set me back a month but maybe not. We'll see where things are in a month at my next appointment. I also asked him about my "phantom tooth aches" and he think ...
So I just found my ticker from my first post (below) and I can't believe how much time has gone by since I got my braces on. http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt...b6e8/event.png I had my last adjustment on Jan. 31. When I went in, ortho looked at my teeth and started smiling. The gap was almost gone. They changed the powerchains again and set me to go back in 4 weeks for what will hopefully be my last powerchains. He ...
I go back to the ortho again in a week. I'm so excited because my horrible gap is nearly non-existent. I'm thinking one more round of power chains and this thing will disappear. Also my mid line is just slightly off now so maybe when the gap is closed, my mid line will be perfect. I've been feeling some of my other teeth moving lately (today especially) and I didn't know there was anymore room for them to move. Surgery may be about 4-5 months away, but I'm already ...
