I left a message for my old ortho yesterday (knew they'd be closed and rather leave a message anyway) about finalizing things with them so I can fully switch to my new ortho. They called me back today and left a message to let me know that they are working on things on their end and will get back with me asap. Now, I'm just waiting. Once things are final with them (hopefully by Mon.) then I can start things with the new ortho. The first visit with the new ortho, he plans to take I ...
I finally got my files from my ortho and went today to see the ortho that's friends with my dentist. He told me that he doesn't accept transfers in town and that he thinks I should I tuff it out. That's ok since I didn't like him anyway. He wasn't nice at all and said he was "pre-warned" about me. This makes me irritated with my dentist and my dentist is a good friend of mine. So, what am I going to do now? I'm going to transfer to the ortho I saw last week since I liked ...
I had a consult with a new ortho today about possibly transferring and I was very pleased with him. He's friendly, understanding, and said he'd be glad to answer any questions I have. He also told me that I'd only need braces for 18 months instead of the 24 that I was quoted by the one I'm seeing. He also said that they do pain management for patients who go through prolonged pain after adjustments. This is great since my current ortho doesn't do it. This one's office would also take care of everything ...
So I had my adjustment this morning. I told him about my jaw hurting badly and about my "most likely cavity". He told me that in order for him to work on my jaw, I'd have to have my braces taken off for about 2-3 weeks and that would delay my treatment time. If I can manage to deal with my jaw, I'll be wearing these things a total of 20-22 months. I went to the chiropractor and he said that the right side of my jaw was badly twisted and he was suprised it wasn't dislocated. Nevertheless, ...
Till I get my first adjustment. I'm anxious, nervous, excited, and if truth be told maybe even slightly scared; anxious and nervous to know how I'm progressing, scared that I might not be cleaning as well I should be. Also, I think I have a cavity in a gap that's opened up in the front of my mouth. When it opened, I noticed a brown spot. Now, whenever something cold or sugary (pepsi, toothpaste, mouth wash) hits it, the pain is almost unbearable. I think I'm going to ask my ortho ...
This past week I was getting excited because I was thinking that I had my next adjustment this week. Well, it's next week. Not only that, but one of my friends at work is getting her braces off the day before my adjustment. We have the same dr. too so I'll see her picture and congrats on the board when I go in. I'll also probably see her at work. Also, my TMJ is still acting up. Not as bad as it was for a few days, but still. Also last night while I was at work, I moved my mouth weird, ...
So my first adjustment is Fri. of next week. I'm excited to learn exactly what my teeth have been doing. I'm also hoping something will be done to ease my TMJ since it's been going crazy. I'll post pictures after it happens.
So I just got done brushing and flossing for the night. I noticed a small gap that's now between two of my teeth so I decided to look at my before pictures. I had no gap at that time but I had a tooth in the bottom middle that was badly crooked (never liked that tooth). So, I got out my mirror just now and looked at my teeth. That tooth is almost straight now! If that's why the small gap (that only me, my dentist, and ortho would notice) is there, it's welcome to stay longer. I can't believe I've ...
I came home for a few days due to a bad sunburn and while home, my wires became slightly loose. I sometimes feel like my teeth are moving way to too quickly and wonder if this could be why my wires are loose. I called the ortho this morning and they said that it's normal, but I'm not so sure about. I go back for my first adjustment on June 18. I want to try to stick it out until since it doesn't really hurt. Now though, I can't eat anything on that side of my mouth for fear of my wire sliding. Kinda ...
Today starts week 3. So far, basically good. I went to the dentist last week for what I thought was a badly chipped tooth. It was just glue from the brackets driving me nuts. He was able to file down the glue and it's much better. He told me that my teeth have already shifted pretty dramatically. I was surprised but happy. I'm almost able to eat normally, with the exception of meat. Last night was the first time I've really had any pain since the first few days and it bothered ...
Tonight marks the end of week 1. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I think I'll probably be eating more and more solid type foods by the end of week 2. I'm able to eat bread, rice, peas, beans, and other soft foods with no difficulty. I also haven't had to use wax since Sun. and that makes me very happy. BTW, I have pictures but for some reason they won't load on here.
This is the end of day 4 with braces. I thought I'd be really self conscious with them on, but I'm not. I actually don't notice the bottom ones at all. The top ones are kinda awkward, but I'm sure that will pass. I can't eat normally and that bugs me. I'm not a very patient person. Oh, I have to wear mine for 2 years and I'll have jaw surgery for overbite correction around the half way point.
