Hello all!

I just discovered this website and I am so glad I could ask questions here and I am hoping for some answers because evidently I am in a big mess!!

My ortho discovered I had impacted canines and she exposed them and I had worn braces for an year. Unfortunately I had to discontinue the treatment in my country as I had to move to America for my further education. Long story short, I have exposed canines without braces! My question is how long will it take for them to come down from their position and how much will the treatment cost and what kind of braces should I get? I would be grateful to anyone who passes on their knowledge because I have no idea about American dentistry. Thank you!!

Kavya.

    Hi Kavya!

You need to make appointments to see three or more orthodontist's and ask them about what they recommend for your treatment and how much it will cost etc.

My impacted canine never came down ... most do, but the time involved can be from a few weeks till a few years. It's not an easy one to calculate, but most ortho's will be able to give you a good idea after you've had extensive x-rays done to check where the roots of the tooth are.

The type of braces will not impact on how our canine comes down or how your treatment progresses. Brackets cannot move teeth, it requires a skilled ortho using archwires and you adhering to everything they tell you to do.

Good luck finding the right treatment for you!
