So...remember my post about my F's, TH's & my V's? Or, in short, my new speech impediment? Well.. I got to see my orthodontist last Friday and I think he's enjoying the torture I'm going through lol

Mind you, I have never seen an adult in his office other than the parents dropping their teens & tweens off... so I try my best to fit in with a group of pre-pubescents and its rather difficult.. I brought up my new speech impediment and my concerns with it, and the fact that now I can whistle through my teeth unintentionally...and I demonstrated like the freak show i've become and he said "Hey, I can so something about that" Well.. yay! I figured different wire... Ok, I don't know what I expected... but... instead... powerchains!!!

So..no biggie..I had 2 small ones before to help bring snaggle teeth down and it didnt hurt too bad..

Now... I've got a power chain from hell from one end of my mouth to the other... I was advised to go home, take some ibuprophin or percs if I had any left from my surgery and go to bed...

Now, how bad can that possibly be? These little twerps get them all the time i'm sure and I didnt hear anyone complaining... I went home, ate spagetti, read a book, fell asleep, woke up in AGONY!!!

Why didn't I listen and just take the damn ibuprophin and climb into bed and sleep through the torture!??!

The good part is, and i'm not exaggerating at all... the space in between my teeth which probably could have landed me a spot in America's Got Talent because I could whistle through my teeth, closed in 1 night!!! Almost..not 100% but at least 90% and my newfound speech impediment has subsided...

My powerchains come off on April fools day... I think i can suffer for a month without issue but I hope it goes by fast. They don't hurt nearly as bad anymore until I actually put pressure on my teeth by biting into something..

Lesson of the day: Don't bitch if you don't want the issue rectified and listen to the doc when he says to take something for the pain!

I've had powerchains now since Nov. or Dec. and I actually love them. I complain when they get taken out to be changed because my mouth feels too light. (BTW, I'm 29) You'll actually get used to them about as quick as you got used to your braces.

It's fantastic that you're seeing how amazing powerchains work. I've had them for all except the first six or seven months of my treatment and they are fantastic! I'm with Jenn ... I loathe the feeling when they're removed ... although I can't wait till they're totally removed!

fortunately, he said only a month with them. I just can't believe they hurt that bad! I had them (2) when I first got braces and I dont remember them being so painful..then again, I was getting used to the whole braces thing in general. But yeah, they work really really fast!

Ha ha ha ha sucks! But at least no more freak show whistling right? And you are lucky. I have no percs. And really Ibuporphin is probably gaining in the stock price at the rate I've been taking it!
