have you seen an ortho yet? you may want to get a few consultations if you haven't already.

I actually had a crossbite myself and didn't need surgery or an expander.

yes i went to sears and great expressions.....the orthodontist at great expressions told me that she could correct the crossbite with rubberbands and full top and bottom braces.....
.....because i dont have dental insurance to help cover the cost of surgery.

I started with two crossbites and both were corrected with braces and elastics. Surgery and expanders should not be necessary with crossbites, unless there's some other bite issue that needs attention that is related to how your skull has grown.

Make appointments to see a few ortho's ... to make sure you're making the right decision for you. In some cases if surgery is necessary, it's better to wait until you have the insurance and then have the correct treatment.
