So i go in to the ortho today, not aware that it is a differnt ortho (they do the whole 2-3 orthos per office thing), and I was dissapointed to note that they didnt change one thing! They just took the wire out, and put the exact same one back in!! Its been over 2 months now and no change?!?!?!? I dont know if its because of the ortho that saw me isint aware of my case, or if its to do with him being new (just recently became a ortho) and not knowing what to do with my case. Anyhow, im slightly fustrated, and feel that the appointment was slightly a waste of time (frig I can take my own wire our and put it back in!)
Anyhow, anywords of encouragement would be great, anyone ever had this happen before? Why did they not do ANYTHING today?

    Lauralea-

I'm sorry your appointment turned out to be less than you'd hoped. I read on the "other" message board about one member who used the same archwire for 3-4 months because their ortho said it was still "active" and didn't need changing. I guess they can tell by its shape...? Sorry I can't be of more help, as I'm not even fully braced on the same wire yet.

Sunny.... Denise... Brace Face...? Yoo Hoo!!! LOL!

Lauralea please don't be concerned as remember the archwires will keep working for many months ... maybe a year or longer. These memory wires continue working until your arch is in the perfect shape. If your's isn't in this perfect shape, then you can be certain the archwire still has loads to do.

Also remember ... that removing and replacing your archwire is not a good thing to do, as if you don't get it in the right place, the pressure will be on the certain teeth in the wrong way.

    Good luck with more progress!

PS ... the archwire I've got in my mouth have been there for nearly two years. My ortho has removed it heaps, to put bends in it, adjust and change the bends etc ... but it's still the same size ... and it's still working!

Yeah I had a thick arch wire for the first 2-3 months then my ortho changed me to a thinner wire for the rest of the time - over a year. When I was bebanded last week the wire immediately curved back into an 0 shape so it was obviously still curved. At least you got new bands right? I had a bunch of appointments where all they did was change the rubber bands and send me home
