I was starting to get used to my previous aligner. To the point where I barely noticed it at all and my initial lisp (noticeable to me but not my fiance) was gone. And then I noticed it - a crack right center on my top aligner. I don't how long it's been there but figured it wasn't a good thing and have since moved on to my next aligner as I was instructed at my initial orientation.

It's actually quite a tight fit but if that means that it's moving my teeth in the right direction then I suppose it's a good thing. It does feel a bit funny in my mouth though and I keep running my tongue against it subconsciously. I just hope that my next set of aligners aren't too hard take off once I get my buttons on (next visit). It makes me wonder if they made that first aligner easy to take on and off on purpose so as not to scare me out of treatment!

Anyhow - hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and a productive boxing day (for the Canadians out there). Eventually I'll try to post some pictures.

Shame about the split, but as long as your ortho approved you changing aligners earlier than expected, there shouldn't be any issues with your teeth being forced to move to suit the new aligners.

Good luck with getting your buttons fixed and make sure you practise putting your new aligners in and out (several times) before leaving your ortho's office.

Hope your boxing day went well. It was extremely hot here, but it was great to get my hubby home from hospital and our kids cooked xmas dinner for us on boxing day, due to us spending xmas day at the hospital.

A question ... you've wished the Canadians a productive boxing day ... does this mean that other areas over your way don't celebrate boxing day like we do here in the southern hemisphere?

    sunny,

well - it was only a day ahead of schedule so it isn't a huge deal. it was funny, I was comparing my first and second aligner for differences but I haven't noticed any yet. good advice about buttons though.

glad to hear you had a nice xmas dinner but sorry to hear you spent part of it in ER.

btw... I believe the Americans don't have boxing day, they just have post xmas sales. black friday (day after American Thanksgiving) is their big shopping day.

Americans don't celebrate Boxing Day. I have never heard an American call the sales after Christmas Boxing Day Sales.

Some classmates asked me what Boxing Day is. They thought it was a day where people box. lol

I think Boxing Day is celebrated all over the Commonwealth, so it's not just Canadians who celebrate it.

The Southern Hemisphere celebrate boxing day and recently it's become the day of the 'big sales', when stores cut prices of products dramatically so they can get rid of any over orders they made for xmas and can make room for new stock.

In New Zealand and Australia (and probably other countries), it's another good excuse for loads of sport to be played, particularly international sport and the top teams are usually out in force!

I also know of many reconstituted families that live a about a half days drive away, that celebrate with one family on xmas day and with the other family on boxing day. It usually works well for children, as it gives them the chance to see their rallies over a short period of time.

The research I've done shows many reasons why boxing day is named boxing day ... and here's one of the more common ones ...

Boxing Day is a day the higher classes gave gifts to the lower classes. Before or on December 25th people of similar class would exchange gifts to celebrate the Christmas season. Gifts were not exchanged with the lower class until the next day called Boxing Day. It is also known as St. Stephen’s Day.

Why is the holiday named Boxing Day?
The holiday is named Boxing Day because the tradition of giving gifts of cash, food, clothing and other goods to the less fortunate were placed into boxes for easier transportation. The goods were distributed based on the family needs and their services to the giver.

^ heh, interesting, I didn't realize there was so much history behind it. When I was little I thought it was literally a day of boxing matches.
