That's right folks, my ortho FINALLY told me I can stop wearing rubber bands!! Well technically his words were "You can stop wearing rubber bands for now," but I'll take it! He wants to try and close up my gaps and overbite. He even tweaked my wire to straighten my upper teeth. He wants me to come in more often, about every 6 weeks, to get my power chain replaced so my gaps can close. I have a crap ton of gaps in my upper teeth. I mean literally, half of my upper teeth have gaps in between them! You can't really see them, but trust me when I say they are there. Man, I am just so excited I will be rubber band FREE for at least the next 6 weeks!! Okay, enough gabbing, time for some pics.

Ahhhhh new clear power chains!!

My bite is still open on the right side. That is where my molar build still is.

I also made an appointment in 6 weeks to get regular dental cleaning. I haven't gotten my teeth cleaned in quite a while. You don't even want to know how long. I know... shame on me! I need to make it a habit of getting it done every 6 months. That means, trip to ortho to take out wires, trip to dentist for regular exam and dental cleaning, then BACK to ortho to put wires back in and change power chain. Sheesh! I just hope they don't find cavities...

Wow! What a huge difference from the beginning! You are so lucky to have a reprieve from elastics. I had a reprieve on my right side for about a month, but other than that, I've had them constantly for just about a year. Sooooo tired of them already. Haha. But I can see you getting them off this year; they look that great.

Oh sheesh dude, elastics are the worst. I'm so jealous of your "time off". Word to the wise: get the cleaning BEFORE your ortho adjustment... or face a painful cleaning lol. I had a cleaning like 2 days after an adjustment (that's just how it timed out) and it was brutal. So happy for u gurl!!

Well I go in to the ortho to get my wires out, then go to get a cleaning, then back to the ortho to get my wires put back in. That will be a long day for teeth! lol

I'm enjoying my rubber bands free time! But I still find myself moving my fingers to mouth before I eat like I have them in. It feels like something's missing!

Do they normally remove wires for cleaning?

I don't know, but my ortho told me it's so the dentist can get between my teeth and around my brackets easier.

I've had 2 cleanings so far and I'm 7 mos into my braces. Both times they left them in but I think this next one (next week) they'll remove them since I have powerchains now. I'm fortunate to be able to get all my stuff done at the same office though! Runnin around town would make me nuts! Haha! Your pics look great in your blog updates! I look so forward to your posts
