I am sitting here at my desk and man ol man do I wish I could pull these things off my teeth. I feel like they are taking over my mouth; the mouth I once used to eat goodies throughout the day. When I look in the mirror they don't look bad but they sure do FEEL bad!!!! I was talking eariler and I started to drool a little; I was like WTF is this how it's going to be for the next 18-20 months.....please say I am going to get used to this and gain control. I have an outing with my team this evening and I am trying to figure out what I am going to be able to order from the bar menu?!?! Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

It gets better, don't despair! I'm about 7 or 8 days in.. and I'm completely used to them .. and no wax! I didn't think the day would come for that.

After the first couple of days I had the same feeling.. especially when eating. But, it gets better!

I'm still waiting for it to get better in regards to eating foods I want .. but can't have (i.e. tortilla chips .. especially doritos)

I think we've all had that feeling, but luckily it does pass and usually quickly. The next stage is when you realise you can go for hours without remembering you have braces ... and those periods get longer, until you only think about them due to making sure you keep your mouth clean with water when you're eating.

The more you chew with your molars the easy it gets ... it's another one of those things that improves with practise.

Hope your evening out goes really well!

LOL. Yes I am one month in tomorrow and it does get a lot easier. It is a lot of mixed emotions but they just become apart of who you are after a couple weeks.

I went out last night and instead of figuring out what I was going to eat, I just ate before hand and snacked on something that would be discreet and drank instead.

    Good Luck!!

Like the others say, you will adjust in time. It takes some people longer than others, so don't think something is wrong with you if you don't feel comfortable with them after a week or even a month. I'll be honest. I'm at 21 months right now and I hate them as much as the day I got them. I HATE having to pick food out of my brackets. I hate having to worry about if the food I'm eating will break a bracket. I hate having to brush after every meal. They're a massive pain in the butt. BUT, I will say that you will adapt and you will come up with a better idea as time goes on of what is easy for you to eat and what isn't. Foods that you can put whole into your mouth in small amounts are good to start out with. I wouldn't go for a burger at a restaurant. Instead try something small like popcorn chicken or french fries. All I can say is, it takes lots of time to adapt!

They're all correct - you get used to it! I've had mine since October and the first few weeks I kept thinking to myself "what the hell was I thinking!?" But it gets so much easier and you'll get over it and will adapt

I think I'm the only person with lingual (if i'm not i'm sorry!) but with the linguals I probably won't get any less slobbery than i am now. I've had my braces 7 weeks and I'm still a little drooly. I feel like i'm slurring but no one else notices it at all. unless i have a glass of wine and um yeah it's pretty ridiculous.

I do what Elle does- eat ahead of time. My braces are on the back of my teeth so there is no angling the food to the inside of my mouth or anything. Eating ahead of time works best for me.

You will get used to it! I still play with them and mess with my tongue and I always have one of the rubber tooth pick things in my hands at all times but its just part of my now.

Have fun with it and laugh at it. The time will pass quickly.
