I had my fourth adjustment on Tuesday. Good progress throughout. My ortho actually said that it looks like we are ahead of schedule (he wants to take some pictures next time to make sure that my teeth aren't moving TOO fast) and I might actually be out of them by this time next year. For those keeping track, that puts me TWO MONTHS ahead of schedule. We'll have to wait and see if it lasts, but for now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! My top and bottom teeth were also finally deemed ...
I had my third adjustment appointment this past Monday. It went well, and my ortho was very pleased with my progress (I think he actually said that my case might be the fastest movement he's ever seen) My bite has been getting better and better, thanks to these little pink rubber bands, and I'm *almost* edge to edge! I'm still wearing the bands, but under strict instruction to stop wearing them if my top teeth move inward too much. I also got my last four brackets put ...
So I'm still in rubber bands. Progress was good at my last adjustment, but my bite is still not edge-to-edge, so we're keeping them on for another month. I got my bottom wire changed (you'll notice those funky little loops in it - they are to keep those two teeth from moving) but the top one stayed the same. I've got some gaps forming between my bottom teeth (we're pulling them forward) which I'm not too thrilled about. Hopefully they will be addressed at my next adjustment. ...
So I've been wearing these rubber bands for a month (my next adjustment appointment is next Thursday) and I really hope I don't have to continue wearing them. This is totally wishful thinking on my part, as I'm pretty sure I have a lot of rubber banding in my future Other than the rubber bands being a pain in my butt, (and the possibility that I'm allergic to the latex they're made out of) this month has gone by fast, and without incident. No major pain to report (I don't think ...

I had my first adjustment appointment yesterday. My orthodontist was super excited about how much my teeth had moved! He said I looked "radically different" haha He's an interesting guy His assistant hadn't seen me since I got my braces on, and she asked me if I had done something different to my hair or if I had changed my glasses. It wasn't until my ortho pulled out my pre-braces dental molds (and I was instantly horrified) that she realized that the difference was ...

Weeks 2 - 4 were pretty tame. No major pain aside from a few sore teeth every once in a while. My upper teeth have continued to move steadily (I really can't believe how fast they can move!) and smiling is easier now that my "fangs" have moved down considerably - I haven't had to wax them all week. They are *almost* even with the rest of my teeth! I didn't think it was possible! My two front teeth are slowly moving apart too! I had to have some bonding done ...
I've been in braces for two weeks (and a little more) and I can already see movement! My orthodontist said that he saw some definite movement at my one week followup, and the progress has continued through my second week. My bottom teeth are opening up slightly (I can tell when I floss) and my "fangs" (not sure what the name of the tooth is) aren't as stacked as they used to be. I think it's most noticeable when I smile (!!) My front teeth have also shifted a little, and ...

I'm 5 days in, and still feeling pretty darn good about this whole braces thing. The adjusting to braces hasn't been that bad (yet - I don't want to jinx myself!) The way people talked about it, I thought I was going to be in agony for a couple of weeks! I've had some irritation to my cheeks etc, but it wasn't anything that wax/salt water rinses/a good night's sleep couldn't fix. My front teeth were sore for the first two days, but that was about it. I still feel a ...
I got my braces on today! I'm actually surprised by just how good the ceramic brackets look. If it wasn't for the metal wire (which will eventually be swapped out for a white wire) They would be just about invisible! <center><img src="http://images56.fotki.com/v1601/photos/9/103039/8996755/IMG00038201008192007SMALL-vi.jpg" /></center> I was super anxious/nervous all week, but it went really well. Putting the bands on my first ...
So, it's officially happening! I have made my braces appointments! August 17th I'll be getting my spacers put in to separate my molars (ouch) and then on the 19th I'll be going back for the actual braces. I'm so grateful that I only have to wear the spacers for a couple of days. I know they can be killer, and some people have to wear them for longer! Everything is pretty surreal right now. I don't think it's going to hit me until I actually have brackets bonded to my ...
My name is Liz. I'm a 25 year old New Yorker, and I'm about to go through a dental transformation. I hope to use this blog to chronicle my journey - the good, the bad and the ugly. It's going to be a longgg trip. I have a long set of work and procedures ahead of me: * <s>get my records done for braces</s> * <s>get all necessary dental work done</s> * get wisdom teeth out (ouch) * get braces put on (18 months!) ...
