Week 19 - Bracket Issue

I had my first "emergency" ortho visit last week.

I had noticed that the bonding material on my upper left canine felt rougher than usual (like there was a lip, or edge there that wasn't there before) and when I went to inspect with my finger, the bracket moved! It was still attached to the wire/banding, but somehow the bonding had come un-stuck to my tooth, and the bracket was able to slide around.

I called my ortho immediately, and they were able to squish me in at the end of the day.

While I was there getting re-bonded, I pointed out that the two teeth next to my front teeth (my lateral incisors) looked like they had moved down further than they should, to the point where they were a little lower than my two front teeth (regretfully, I don't have pictures) My ortho took a few measurements and said that something was "off". His best guess is that my un-stuck bracket might have been loose, or un-stuck for a few days before I realized it, and had caused this weird shift in my teeth. He debated using a different wire to correct it, but decided to just put the old one back on in the hopes that everything would go back to normal. (I was also fitted with shorter e-links this time around - youch!)

It's been a few days, and I think I already see an improvement in terms of the teeth that were moving down too far. I've been keeping an eye on them! I can also already see progress in my gaps closing up, and it's only been a week and a half. They should be gone within 2 months tops!

Hopefully no more mishaps!
