Week 23 - Springs!

My last adjustment got pushed back a couple of times due to horrible weather and bad timing, but it finally happened on Monday! I was getting pretty antsy about it. I really needed my ligatures swapped out, they were getting pretty dingy!

I didn't think we'd be changing anything, but my extraction gaps had made good enough progress so my ortho decided to tackle my upper mid-line. We left the same wires on, but added a spring on one side to try and push all of my teeth over as well as a power chain to pull on the other side. Hopefully my top teeth will shift over, and the mid-line will align better with my bottom mid-line. My ortho said it probably won't ever be perfect, but close is good enough for me.

My top molars were a little sore for the first couple of days (probably from all the new pushing and pulling) but I just took some Advil and went on my way. I must be one of the lucky ones, because I really haven't felt much pain in my teeth during my treatment. I've probably had more discomfort due to cheek/lip rubbing than anything else.

So here are my post-adjustment pictures:

Spring on the upper left, power chain on the upper right. We want my top teeth to shift to the right!

See? I thought it might irritate my cheek/lip, but so far, it hasn't made any difference.
Also, I never really took notice before, but look how straight my top teeth look! Goodbye overbite/overjet! (thank you pink rubberbands!)

Your teeth look gorgeous!! They've straightened out in such a short amount of time. And that spring looks pretty cool! I need all my upper teeth moved over to the left, so I wonder if he's going to try that with me. I'm rather enjoying my elastics, for some odd reason. I guess because I know they're working. Good job!
