Week 44 - Month 11 - Updates

So I'm on my 11th month in braces (closing in on a year! crazy!) and a lot has happened since my last post.
Mainly - I had another bracket pop off. This time, the culprit was a crunchy piece of broccoli. I usually ask for my (Chinese food) broccoli overcooked, but I was at my parent's house, and didn't do the ordering. I bit into a piece, and felt something shift in my wire. I checked everything out, and all looked normal, but I could feel pressure on my right front tooth. Since everything seemed to be in place, I figured that I had knocked the wire a little, and would just keep an eye on it.
A few days later, I realized that my front tooth (the one that I had felt pressure on) was actually starting to move back, behind my other front tooth! I was shocked at how fast it had moved, and knew something was wrong. Further inspection revealed that the bracket was not longer attached to my tooth. It wasn't moving around, but I could get my finger nail/floss under it about half way. I called my ortho and they were able to squeeze me in for an emergency visit.
At my visit, I got some bad news. It looked like my teeth had shifted quite a bit (my bracket was probably loose for a while before I even realized it) and I was going to need to go back to non-torquing wires for at least two weeks to get everything back to normal again. So everything had to come off, which was a project in and of itself. I was also told that they had run out of clear ligatures, so I was forced to use tooth colored ones instead - they actually aren't that bad!
So now, I'm back in one set of rounded wires. I have an appointment for Thursday (which might need to be moved) to get my rectagular and torquing wires back on. Good times!
