Today I went in for the 6 month visit. About 2 months ago I had the upper left first premolar removed. Since then we have been in a bit of limbo. I guess at 3 months I got brackets on the lower arch except for the incisors. That was to expand the arch a little, I think. Today I got bands on the second molars all around as well as brackets on the lower incisors, except for the one that is way wonky. I also got a "mild" powerchain to tug on the canine in front of my premolar used to live.

We didn't do too much in the last 2 months other than the tooth removal, so I had gotten used to not having any soreness. I'm sure sore now!

Looking forward to having the bottom incisors intrude and level out with the others. He is still pretty confident that the wonky bottom incisor will be removed. Here's hoping not.DSCF0122.JPGDSCF0120.JPGDSCF0112.JPGDSCF0116.JPG

Great that you have so much happening and your ortho has options for your treatment.

That lower incisor has a massive job ahead if it's to find room to move forward. I hope you don't need to have it removed, but be confident that if your ortho makes that call, it will have been a well thought out one and the best for your lower arch.

Powerchains get amazing movement! Your's has been put on with a 'spare link', but your canine will still feel the pull.

    Good luck with your progress!

Sunny, he told her to put on an "open powerchain" and to not put much force on it...is that what the spare link means? I wasn't sure what he meant.

Oh, and I asked him to give me some more info when I go in as to what we're trying to accomplish at each stage...he had gotten to where he wasn't telling me anything. He explained it all very well after that.

I think it does, coz you have a spare link over the gap where your tooth was extracted. If there'd been a tooth with a bracket there, that link would be on it, so the pressure is limited. At some point, there'll be no link left there and then the gap will hopefully close with relative ease.

It's great that you and your ortho are communicating so well!
