Just got the separators. They didn't hurt as bad as I thought they would. They put them in, then the tech realized the doc wanted another xray, so she had to take them out, xray, and insert all over again! Oh well.

All in all it was fine. I don't have the throbbing pain I was expecting based on others' reports.

Go in for the brackets and wires in 5 days!

Good for you lojoma!! And you're lucky you only have to have them for 5 days.
They are more uncomfortable and a pain in the ass, not so much painful. Well, they were for me cause apparently I have tight teeth, oh and I'm also a big baby!!
That's exciting that you get your braces on in 5 days! Welcome to the club!!

That's great! I've heard a lot of people say that the spacers were worse than the actual braces, so you are one of the lucky ones!

A day later I'm starting to get some pain around one tooth but it's pretty minor in the scheme of things.

I did have one separator break, though, so I'm concerned about that. The bottom half of the "O" is still in the space but the top half is gone. Given that it is Saturday and they are closed, the soonest I could get another would be Monday and it would be difficult for me to get to their office that day anyway. Hopefully this won't affect things too much. It was on the bottom arch and the original plan was to do the top arch first, so we'll have to see what happens.

This is the amazing thing about orthodontics ... it's a truly individual process. Some things annoy one person and not another and so on.

It's great that your spacers are feeling good and give your ortho a call on Monday and hopefully everything will be ok with regard to the spacer that has broken. Hopefully with half the spacer still in space, the gap will widen sufficiently.

Good luck with getting your treatment started!
