Emergency! Do i really need extractions for braces?

I'VE BEEN TO CONSULTANTS WHO ARE SPECIALISTS IN THIS, ONE TOLD ME I NEEDED FOUR EXTRACTIONS, AND ANOTHER TOLD ME I DON'T NEED EXTRACTIONS. PLEASE TELL ME YOUR OPINION, BECAUSE I'LL NEVER HAVE MY TEETH BACK AFTER AN EXTRACTION IF I FOLLOW THROUGH. MY CURRENT ORTHODONTIST (WHICH I WILL GET BRACES VERY SOON) IS TELLING ME THAT WITHOUT EXTRACTIONS THE BRACES WILL ALIGN MY TEETH BUT THEY WILL STICK OUT AND WONT LOOK GOOD. THE OTHER ORTHODONTIST TOLD ME THAT BRACES IS ENOUGH TO PUSH PACK MY TEETH INTO PLACE, SINCE I HAD WISDOM TEETH REMOVED. I NEED ADVISE!FACIAL.jpgSIDEMIDSIDE.jpgTOPBOTTOM.jpg

    Hey!! My teeth stuck out way worse than yours do and I didn't have any extractions (except wisdom teeth) so I can't imagine why it wouldn't work for you as well. My overjet was very far out and made my profile look bad as well. Now I'm almost done and I got my overjet down to 3mm. Ideal is 1 or 2, but I'm extremely happy with 3 without needing extractions.

    Start the treatment without getting any teeth removed. Let the orthodontist get the teeth in proper positions. At that stage, if you feel the smile & face doesn't look as good as it should, you may go ahead with extractions. You end up spending extra time with braces on your teeth, but you'll be 100% sure why you got the teeth removed, if they had to be. You spend an extra few months with braces on your teeth, but what you'd be sure of your decision.

    Thank you for the advice. I've been doing so much research on this stuff because losing teeth is a big deal for me and it FREAKS me out! I haven't been able to sleep the closer the day approaches when i get braces then hopefully not, extractions. But sure now, I've decided NO EXTRACTIONS for me, i'll never know if i need those good sets of teeth in the future when i'm old!

    Recommended you go for NO EXTRACTIONS, with a rider that you'll re assess & decide upon it later, when all teeth are aligned correct.
    Remember,old age is still FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR AWAY.
    You need a good set of teeth now AND for old age
    However, that should not compromise your smile & face NOW, & all the years it takes to "grow old"

    My teeth are way worse than yours and I did not need extractions! I know its a huge decision to make but I suggest you go with your braces first and wait for your teeth to align. Good Luck!
