15 month mark and 10th Adjustment

My ortho just told me that I have my finishing wires on both top and bottom! That is sooo exciting to hear, but at the same time I am a little scared because I want to be happy with my treatment. My teeth look straight, but my bite doesn't feel right. My bite feels perfect on the right side, but on the left it feels as if that side is higher. I am wearing rubberbands at night and I hope this will be sufficient to correct my bite. I am on month 15 of 24 so I have another 9 months left of my estimated treatment time so I still have some time to improve my bite. The words 'finishing wires' just make me think that I am almost done so who knows how much longer my treatment will be.

    I've had the same archwires for over three years. They've had loads of different bends put in them, and different figurations for elastics ... but the size of wire hasn't needed to be changed.

    Where I work I've seen patients with their finishing wires for between one and 12+ months. Talk to your ortho about how your treatment is going and is your bite progressing as planned.

    Thanks Sunny for the response. Yeah I suppose these finishing wires don't necessarily mean I am almost done, but I sure hope my debanding date isn't too far away. I'm not going to worry just yet about my bite. I'll let my ortho do his thing and whenever he tells me I am almost done I will bring up my concerns, if any, at that point.
