My wire on my lower left side is KILLING me! It hurts sooo bad and I have no wax. I've actually never used wax, but I know that this time I really do need it. My next adjustment is just two days away, but the wire really bothers me. I feel like the wire is trying to make a hole through my cheek. The wire started to get longer about a month ago, but it didn't bother me I could just feel the wire with my tongue.

Even if I go out to buy wax, I don't think I would be able to put the wax on the wire because the wire is so long that there is no space between the wire and my cheek. It literally seems like the wire is trying to make a hole in my cheek. I'm just going to wait it out. Hopefully two days will come by quick so I can have the wire taken out.

Get the wax!!! Just GOB it on there, even if you use the whole roll. Have you tried using the end of a pencil and bending the wire away from your cheek? I really would try as much as possible to get the wax on there. Being in agony for 2 days isn't worth it, because you'll have to deal with your new adjustment pain PLUS a gaping hole in your cheek.

ya as catgyrl said, wax it up.... if it really is killing you, go to your ortho and have them trim it.

Thanks for the replies, and YESSSS I DID GET SOME WAX! I really needed it. I just got it today and I feel soooo much better. Since my wire was poking me these last few days my cheek was very sensitive and trying to find the end of the wire was painful, but I managed. Another problem I had was trying to make the wax stick to the wire....it kept falling off...but eventually it stayed. So YAY for me because this means I have no pain anymore!!

I'm in the same boat as you this week. Both molar brackets and both upper wires are shredding my mouth to death, and I have so much wax in my mouth I can hardly speak...and this is 5 months in! I actually have pieces of skin peeling off. (Lovely visual, I know...)

I'm so glad your feeling better. :-)

Wow catgyrl it sounds like you are going through a rough time too. Are your upper wires too long? How far away is your adjustment? If your adjustment is far away, you should go to your ortho so they can clip them...you don't want to keep suffering for something that can be fixed.

I have new wires so I feel excellent because nothing is poking me and I know new wires mean more changes. :-)
