Angela's braces story (and her brother's story)

I am doing much better. I think the stitches already dissolved. I can eat normal food now. I feel much better. Thank you so much guys for the support.

Surgery day: Not so bad. That anaesthesia is brilliant! They did put laughing gas, which did wonders. I was literally laughing so the name is not a joke. I listened to my iPod, which helped. They put the IV in. They messed up the first time, but I was so out of it, I didn't care. Then they injected me with something else and I fell asleep before they could count to 10. Piece of cake, the surgery itself.

Now, I will have to go to the orthodontist in 3 months to see if my impacted ...

Well, it's been a long time since I last posted. So far, I am doing well. I am wearing my retainer every other night. Except I didn't really do that when I was on holiday.

Well, it was expected that I would need wisdom teeth extractions. I also have an impacted second molar (lower left). My orthodontist and dentist both said that it needs to be exposed (I'm not sure why).

My surgery date for the extraction is for 12 August. I am pretty nervous. I am needle-phobic and ...

Well, not so eventful, but it was my birthday yesterday and my little brother was in pain during dinner. I think he is better today.

My brother does not have pain after adjustments. His two front teeth were hurting.

I worry too much. So on Friday I was worried that my tooth chipped because sometimes when I talk that tooth bumps the retainer.

I went to the ortho and they said that the tooth didn't chip. Weird, I thought it did. So they tightened the retainer (ouch!). It hurt afterward.

The good news is that I don't have to wear the retainers 24/7!

The next appointment will be in January...

My brother had an adjustment! He has been doing great with brushing and flossing! His teeth have been making lots of progress! He chose metallic blue and silver. He will be getting some sort of an expander or appliance on his bottom teeth, but he won't need any spacers.

He did get the wire changed, not sure if the wire was thicker, but the new wire is not hurting him.

His next appointment will be on the 1st week of September... not sure of the ...

Well I have had my braces off for 3 months. I have been wearing my retainers for about 20 hours a day. For some reason I think my tooth might have shifted. So here are pictures.

Well it's been over a week since my brother got braces. It seemed like a month hehe. Well I was pretty busy so it did seem a bit longer... Anyways, I am seeing progress. When my brother bites with his front teeth, it hurts. I think it means that his lateral incisor is finally moving up! Go wonky tooth go! My brother still has that positive attitude. Which is great!

My brother has been very good. He is not in pain, unless he is eating potato chips, fruit, or vegetables. I don't hear him whining or anything. He has such a positive attitude!

So today on 13 May 2009, my brother has braces! He seems to be in a little pain, but not really. I see some improvement! That gap between his 2 front teeth is gone! He chose orange and green as the colours. He ended up only getting them on the top because there isn't enough room on the bottom yet?

Anyways I do have one question.

My brother's baby teeth are braced as well as his adult teeth. Seems a little strange that they would do that. When I had braces they didn't ...

I looked at the ticker. My brother is getting braces on 13 May. I tried asking my brother how he feels about that. He doesn't really know. I don't know what colour he will choose. I think he said metallic blue or some other shade of blue, not really sure. I think he has a positive attitude about this. He is doing well and the expander is not bothering him.

I'm going to be keeping my digits crossed for him.

Sorry I haven't been updating
Well it went okay. It was on 13 April. All the ortho did was bend the wire in it and well it felt a little tight but it doesn't feel tight anymore. I still have to wear it 24/7 T_T ;_; .

I was on vacation and well, I haven't been really wearing it as much... Probably only like 16 hours a day (because well... I took out the retainer for pictures and well forgot to put it back in). But I am doing better with wearing it..

My brother had his appointment yesterday

Now he won't have to have his expander turned any more.

His next appointment is in 6 weeks. He will be getting braces. The appointment is on 13 May.
Also, lucky him, he won't have to worry about getting spacers

He has a positive attitude about this. I am proud of him. I think he might actually be excited about this! I'm sure he's excited about choosing colours. I think he might choose metallic blue ...

Well my brother had his expander checked today. Things seemed to have gone nicely. Now instead of 2 turns a day, it's only 1 turn a day. Also my brother has a gap between his teeth, which is great news because it's a sign of it working.
So is the end of having to turn the expander near???

Also, I have been the one turning the expander. My parents couldn't turn it.

I think my brother deserves a round of applause for his excellent co-operation!
