secondary school and braces
Posted 08-21-2008 at 11:00 PM by mariahfromchicago
So the first day of secondary school was yesterday. Well I will have had braces for 19 months on 29 august. Oh and to make matters worse my computer broke
but I am going to take pictures and use my dads computer to upload them. Well I am going to get a new computer. Well I am so nervous that I might not get my braces off before spring break. Which is really sad. My friends have had braces for a really long time and they keep telling me that when the ortho tells them that it will be an x amount of time until they get their braces off and it didn't happen. I am so nervous that the ortho will do the same to me. I fear that it will take forever to get the braces off. First my computer... What now?

I'd give you tips on how to fix your computer, but it's a mac if I recall correctly? I'm a PC man. Hopefully it won't be a complete loss.
I had braces for grades 6 and 7 of elementary school (got them just before the end of summer). I started grade 8 in a new school with them, but got them off in November. My ortho didn't really give me an end date. He basically suprised me with the ending and did impressions right away. I came back when the retainer was made and was free! I know it must suck to have them tell you when you're done only to have it pushed back all the time. Just be lucky you're still in Highschool and tons of people still have them. |

Mariah please don't waste your precious time worrying about things that aren't currently affecting you and may never happen. Such a sad waste of your energy. With my husband terminally ill and only aged 49, I realise more than ever how precious time can be!
If your teeth are ready to be naked by your spring break, your ortho will know this and remove your braces. If they're not ... well ask yourself ... would you really want your braces removed, knowing that your treatment was not completed. Hopefully the answer to that question will help you. Great you've started secondary school. I was a secondary school teacher for 15 years and loved the job. I started teaching when I was 20 years of age and I had students who were 18 ... it was a load of learning for me, and I still have very happy memories of those years. Take care! |

Mariah honestly why go worrying about the simple things in life? Even though I feel your pain. My orthodontist told me my braces will be off before winter break! But they've been wrong so many times that I just can't believe it, even though I really, really want too.
Your computer I think honestly was a conquicidence. My computer had trouble about two weeks ago. Computers just sometimes have a little trouble and need to put back on the right track is all. Relax. I honestly believe your braces will be coming off before spring break. You need to believe. Just because it happened to others doesn't mean it will happen to you. When ever I get really upset that my braces are still on I always ask myself this question: Wouldn't I like for my braces to be done correctly the first time so I don't ever have to go through this again? This question always helps me relize braces are worth the while. Even though it seems like braces are a long jorney at the end most have found it was well worth. Please try to stop worrying. Don't sweat the small stuff. Relax a little! |
