Totally excited about getting started with bracesAfter having overbite for all these years, I'm finally getting something done about it. I was supposed to get braces as a pre-teen, but all the hassle with the stuff I had to go through before I could get the actual braces on, made me quit before I got them on. I remember having a terrible apparatus attached to my molars and strapped around my head at night, and a palate retainer, which I think I also had to wear at night. These contraptions only hurt and made night time a dread. I'm stubborn, and already as a child I actually could not be persuaded to continue the treatment. I must have been a delight to have at the ortho...
Later on, I have regret being so stubborn, and not getting my teeth fixed back then. Over the last couple of years, I have been more and more self-conscius about my teeth, and started considering actual getting information on my options for getting them straightened out. A few months back, I then got my dentist to refer me to an ortho, and here I am.
So now, about 20 odd years later, I have started out with braces. No pre-hassle before the brackets came on this time around, as the jaws are now fully grown/developed. One perk of being adult in braces, I guess.
Got my upper linguals, Incognito, in 4 days ago. So far so good. I have quite a lisp when I speak, mainly on s-sounds. And I have to be careful when I chew, as the front brackets hit my lower front teeth when I take a bite, and the ortho put on a blue temporary build-up paste on my upper 1st molars to avoid contact between lower molars and upper brackets. I am getting used to eating and talking with the upper brackets, but hopefully the build-up will be removed after the summer holidays.
Tomorrow I'm having my upper 1st premolars extracted, a bit anxious about that, never had teeth extracted before.
