So its been almost 3 months since getting the upper linguals on and had another adjustment today. I have one tooth that has been my main issue for years due to overcrowding. When I first got the braces put on there was a spring on the tooth instead of an actual bracket in order to make room. Today I had a little Reprox done to shape the tooth, a bracket placed on it and a new wire put in, so finally the tooth should move into place. I really hope it moves quickly cause of the awkward spaces between my 2 front teeth and the tooth next to it which is the one that needs to move the most.

Unfortunately, about an hour or so after leaving the ortho, the bracket unbonded itself, and I had to go back. So now im worried that it can come off easily. The other thing is the wire in the back is kind of poking at my tongue even though it felt fine for a while after I left the ortho. I really dont feel like going back just for them to turn in the wire more. Has anyone successfully turned in the end of their wire more themselves? I still have wax left but I dont want to have to constantly re-apply it

Sometimes the bonding comes undone due to it not having cured fully and hopefully that's why your bracket came off so quickly and now things will be good.

Do you mean the archwire is poking you, or a wire tie? If it's the archwire, you may need to have it repositioned or a piece clipped ... both jobs for the ortho. If it's a wire tie, they're simple to correct with brackets on 'front' side of your teeth with something soft but firm, like the eraser on the end of a pencil. Not sure how that will work with linguals. Make sure you cover the 'pokey' bit with wax, so that your tongue can toughen without forming sores. Once your tongue has toughened, you won't need the wax and wax is loads easier that a tongue with sores that aches and stings every time you eat and drink.

    Good luck!
