21 and finally getting braces :-)

Hi everyone,

After reading some blogs ive have to decided to do one of my own for my up and coming braces journey!

I am a 21 year old female from London and have always been self concious of my smile, and so i have finally taken the plunge to get orthodontic braces.

I had my orthodontic assesment 2 weeks ago and have decidied to get Clarity clear braces on my upper teeth and regular metal braces on my lowers. My appointment to get them fitted is in another weeks time, but before that as my main problem is overcrowding i have to have my 2 upper pre molars removed eeeek!! i'm not sure how 'fun' this whole journey is going to be but im sure it will all be worth it to get the 'perfect' smile :-D

If anyone else has had to have orthodontic teeth extractions please let me know what to expect as that is what im most nervous about!!

    Hi and welcome to this forum Mel!

    Extractions aren't the most pleasant experience, but they're usually not too bad either. Make sure you do exactly as you're told to make sure that the blood clot forms and stays put to aid with healing and all should go well. Most people find that after a good nights sleep the only thing that may ache is where the numbing needles were put in.

    Good luck with beginning your treatment and here's to everything going smoothly for you! It's great you can have your treatment while you're so young!

    Welcome!! I had to have two extractions and it's nothing - a mere blurp in the entire journey of having braces. Honestly it's probably the shortest and least painful part of this whole thing. There's nothing to be worried about, if you trust your dentist then you know you're in great hands! (I went to an oral surgeon to have mine taken out. 45 minutes of sleep and I woke up with no pain, and two less teeth - it was awesome). Welcome to the board!
