Welp, I had my adjustment today. Not too much has changed. She did something funky with the existing wires, but it wasn't too bad putting them back in .. which was fantastic! She stated that everything looks good, yay! But, that the rest of the movement is my bottom teeth and how quick the elastics work and how well I am disciplined with wearing them. They're pulling my back teeth forward? I'll take a picture in a bit .. I'm still stuck with the molar buildups. No big deal. They're just there right ...
Well, it turns out that my top wire shifted and was poking my cheek, hence the nice big gaping hole/sore that I have on the inside of my mouth. I feel a tad daft, I really thought it was just the bracket sticking to me. So, hopefully that sore will start to heal now that no wire is constantly poking it. I was wondering what was going on.. feels soooooooooo much better. I guess if it happens again, I’ll call in this time and get it fixed. It was an interesting feeling de-stickifying it from my cheek, ...
I got new stronger wires on both top and bottom and man, my teeth hurt! The moment, the wires went in .. I was like.. "owwwwwwwwww" I tried to eat a french fry last night and I couldn't even do that. So, I enjoyed a chocolate milkshake instead and soup. I did end up with a light elastic on the right hand side, but my teeth hurt so much that I don't even really notice it. I was wondering what would happen if I didn't wear it consistently. I'll try and be good about it. The GREAT news is ...
So, today I went in for an adjustment to get upgraded to stronger wires. I think they should write notes in my file that putting wires on my top teeth is a big pain in the butt!! Everytime it's been done, it's been a pain for the poor technician. I was supposed to have a really strong wire put on the top and she tried several things before she gave up and told the ortho what was happening. I ended up with an intermediate wire. I guess my molars need to move a bit to ...
I really really want these off. I feel like if they weren't there I'd be eating normally again. I can eat, just so much harder to deal with. I know people have told you that you get used to them, but do you truely get used to them? Or just bid your time until they're off. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't clench my teeth all the time, my jaw on the right hand side is becoming a bit painful too.. it's the side that "pops"... I'm wondering if I can get these things off ...
Ugh. I'm pretty grumpy. I admit it. The process of getting the bottom brackets on wasn't too bad. I am still not a fan of the plastic thing that keeps your mouth open nor of the suction tool to dry your mouth. But, other than that -- it went pretty fast. Thankfully, no new wire on the top and so my top teeth feel fine. My bottom teeth don't hurt yet, but they're super uncomfortable with the brackets. Not only that, I did get the cement build ups and it's awkward not being able to ...
Had my first adjustment today. The ortho stated that everything looked good! I have to say it was slightly uncomfortable getting the ligs taken off, didn't really hurt -- just tugging. Felt pretty nice not to have the wire in at all Except the brackets felt a tad strange without it. The ortho gave me a stronger wire, and stated my upper teeth should move a bit and my next appointment in May I'll get my lower braces on. That's 4 months of not having lower braces on!! Seems like ...
It's awesome to read everyone's progress here and other forums! Good to know that braces do work!! But, I'm having a "blah" moment. Nothing seems to be happening .. I know it's just the beginning, but I'd like to get things moving ASAP - so I can get them OFF!! My ortho stated it's the aligning and leveling phase and I don't even have my first adjustment until March. So until then, just waiting... Did this phase bug any of you as well? Just seems ...
I don't have any after yet.. this isn't too exciting. Also, I know I'll have gum issues to sort out later. :/ 5.jpg6.jpg

This is a tad repeative...but I got my top ceramic braces on this morning, along with the molds, x-rays and pictures. Once I get the pictures, I'll add them to the post. My teeth aren't as white as most I've seen here, so that's something I'll work on after the braces are off. I won't be getting my bottom metal brackets until my top teeth move out and up. There's no space right now when I close my mouth to have the brackets on my bottom teeth. I'm not really looking forward to the cement when that ...
I'm debating a few things before brace day... one is whether I do go the ceramic route. I'd like to, but I'm scared that they're supposedly bigger than the metal brackets. I couldn't rightly compare them off the models. They really look like the same size to me. I just don't want to deal with sores and whatnot. I had my final consult (I think) with my ortho, just had questions about a few things. I'm feeling quite ready to start this journey! I'm relieved that I can use elastics ...
After being recommended for braces by my dentist, I decided to go to three consults. All three went well for the most part. I just wanted to verify that they stated the same issues with the same recommended treatment. No invisalign for me. I have one last consult to go to, to discuss further details with the orthodontist I'm getting braces with in January. There were things brought up in my last consult that I wanted to verify with them. I'm really on the border ...
