Okay so here we go I got my metal braces today.
Heck yeah it was painful but it was also exciting and fun. My ortho is GREAT! She kind of reminds me of Doctors who come in when the work is just about complete to inspect everything that the other dental assistant's do and then put a stamp on it and keep it moving... she however participated in my treatment and even assisted in inspecting my brackets and wire.

I am now into hour four and thank goodness I took some drugs beforehand. I think the pain is now trying to set in and dammit I am not going to let it get me down. My teeth feel funny as hell... almost like being put in a vice and 'squooze'!

I know the next 72 hours will be critical in my treatment and I will definitely abide by the rules.

My ortho is great she gave me a really cool magnet that lists stuff I shouldn't eat and how to brush and floss to stick on my refrigerator and this little tool box called... "The Right Stuff" and in it, it contains:
-Floss Threader
-Ortho Wax Pack
-Waxed Dental Floss
-Dental Mouth Mirror
-Proxi Brush with Cover
-Fluoride Rinse
-Travel Toothbrush
-Home Toothbrush
and Appliance Instructions!

SHE ROCKS and hopefully so will the treatment in the end!

    i'm so happy for you and it is great that you love your ortho...

    My ortho also just kind checked on me and the assistants did the rest.... but that didn't stop from excellent results.. orthos have to have a good staff and trust and delegate!

    Great you're so happy with your ortho ... this really will make your treatment more easy.

    Hopefully your discomfort will pass quickly. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to take pain killers, but you do whatever makes you feel better. make sure you stay well hydrated, use wax generoulsy and rinse with warm salt water too soothe your mouth.

    Awesome, glad all is going well and that you like your Ortho! I really like mine too and I am so excited to get my braces put on the more I think about it! Hope the pain isn't much worse and look forward to reading your blog and following your progress!

    The first 48 hours are a bit annoying and uncomfortable but after that its a breeze! Good luck, and I'm glad you've found a good ortho that's a big deal as you'll have to see them many times over your treatment time!

    Keep posting Michelle, I've got my spacers in at the moment, and get the braces put on next week. Keep telling us your progress.

    Hope the pain starts to subside quickly.
