Hola, Ello Readers
So I am in my last 2 days of spacers or some my ortho says I sure hope so, this time is a hell of alot easier I just which they didn't have to be this bright blue color lol but I complain to everyone about that. Anyways I've been eating semi solid foods as well as Sonic drinks every night or Cumberland farm chill zones just to help soothe any pain I do have in my teeth.

I am going in bright and early Friday morning to have my palate expander cemented in as well as the bottom ceramics put on, ill shoot for taking some pictures I may be able to do so with my mom camera. Any advice on what I should expect with only one set going in? Should I take Advil or anything before I go in there, I completely forgot to ask when I was in there last week. And yes after my appointment there will be a smoothie or a milk shake rewarded to myself as there is a Dairy Queen like a block away good spot huh.

Any ideas on what I should expect or do to prepare myself is much appreciated, I will post another update on Friday evening on how everything goes as well as with my palate expander I havent seen anyone post about using one or having the surgery so I'll let you all know my progress I know you guys all love to read about them. But I am very happy to be finally starting my journey to better smile and better bite

Bye for now

Great that your time is nearly here Kim!

I haven't needed pain meds of any kind, but others have ... so I can't advise you on what to expect that way.

What we advise our patients to do is to make sure they have a good coating of lip balm on their lips, as they can dry quickly with the the 'cheek retractor' in.

After your braces are bonded, make sure you keep well hydrated and if any bracket rubs, cover it with a generous amount of wax. If your mouth rubs and get sores, then the cells have to reform and the toughening procedure starts all over again ... and you don't want that, plus it can make you feel miserable.

Chewing is important for your gums as it increases blood flow, so it's best not to 'baby' your teeth and get back to eating as you usually do as soon as possible. We recommend our patients wait four hours and then get back to eating. Check with your ortho how long you should wait.

You have the added 'annoyance' of an expander, and patients who get expanders, we recommend they practise talking and singing outloud, as they usually afffect speech for a few days/week. The expander may also cause you to saliva quite a bit, but please don't be concerned by this, as once your mouth gets used to it being there, this will improve.

If you find chewing your food a bit challenging, try cutting the hard food into small pieces and still try and chew, but know that you can swallow without concerns. It's really important that you don't 'baby' your mouth and that you look after your health by eating well.

Most important, be positive and remember the same thing is happening to thousands of people around the world! Good luck!

well as for talking/ singing I have a 2 hours car ride with my ipod and radio plus i have a tendancy to sing/ talk to myself on car rides lol. I have already been having alot of saliva from my tongue ring so that shouldnt really be a big shock when it was removed and closed it stay with me, one of the annoying things. As I asked in the forum I always have Burt's Bees lip balm one me and I constantly loose one buy another and find the one I lost. Also on the food bits With the spacers I've tried with no avail to eat normaly so I've cut it down into smaller pieces and got by will be doing the same things with my braces for the first few days but it shouldnt be that bad since I am only getting bottoms done for the time being right??

Thanks for all your Advice Sunny
