I am getting my braces done at the University Orthodontist Clinic. My biggest problem was my upper canine tooth. I joined this forum, hopefully there are enough people active on here to get advice and ask questions.

On November 30th, 2011 I got the brackets put in. I need 4 extractions so they did not put the wires in. After the brackets were put in, they took me upstairs to the Oral Surgery Clinic to make an appointment for the extractions on December 12th. Wow, this was painful on the cheeks... I couldn't bite down on the right side because my upper molar was hitting the bracket.

December 2, they put the wires in, because the night before, I lost a lower left bracket (Funny, I thought the right bracket would fall off first!). And my resident orthodontist had some time, and I was able to come in and get the bracket back on, and he said he could put the wires in if I wanted to, so he did.

Man, do my teeth HURT! The first day it was just sore. The second day it felt like my teeth were going to FALL OUT. The WORST part is when my lower teeth bump my upper front teeth, and it STINGS. Is this normal??

Last night, my teeth were throbbing. It felt like I could feel the blood flowing through my teeth, and the pulsing... weirdest feeling ever.

Today, (December 6th) the overall pain is less than the last 4 days, except when my lower teeth hit the top *OUCH*.

I wish I had a bad picture of my teeth, but I have gotten very clever at making me teeth look pretty blended, and only take pictures on a certain side. Honestly. I did not think my teeth were THIS bad until I got the braces put in. The braces seems to highlight all the problems! Geez. I am so embarrased.

Day 3 with wires: I am not able to floss without my teeth being in a lot of pain. Is this normal? Should I wait a while longer before trying it again?

Entirely to do with braces. I flossed all the time before braces. Now, I just can't get the floss to go between my teeth at all without being in pain, like I am spreading my teeth a mile apart to fit a tiny piece of floss between them.
