Hello Everyone! My name is Nikki from San Francisco,California. Hope this post finds you well. I just recently started seeing an orthodontist for my teeth; I have crowding on both upper and lower teeth and an overbite.
I had my first consultation last two weeks ago and I had my second consultation for the records; x rays and impressions last Thursday,June 14,2012. I will have the treatment plans discussed and maybe the braces application on the 28th if I don't have to do extractions.

I am super excited on this life changing experience and I was just curious on how the process is? If you can share your experiences that will be really great! I am also very nervous about the soreness or the pain! Thanks!

    Hi Nikki:)
Congratulations on taking the first steps toward achieving your perfect smile. I got my top braces on just over a month ago and it's been a total breeze. I haven't had any pain at all...I have my first adjustment on Tuesday so I may be singing a different tune after that lol but so far so good.
The application of the braces is really easy and completely painless. Your ortho (or tech) will quickly clean off your teeth, apply this bitter tasting stuff, and then glue your brackets on. That's all there is to it, so don't be nervous:)
Do you know what kind of braces you will be getting? I have traditional metal currently with purple ligs;)

Thanks for replying Gabrielle89. I sure hope that the braces application is painless, but I know within a few hours or days you will feel your teeth move. I am getting the traditional metal braces, and to save $1000 dollars on ceramics which I don't really need.

I wanna have pink ligs!!!! hehehe! Im so excited to get my braces and of course to correct my bite and straighten my smile! :)

    Hey Nikki
Sounds a lot like me, I just got my braces on yesterday for crowding and an overbite, but I had to have 4 teeth extracted last week which was a breeze. Getting them put on is so easy, no pain during the process whatsoever. On day 2 I still haven't had hardly any pain, just a lot of pressure from feeling my teeth beginning to move around. It's a little hard to adjust to the idea of having all this metal in my mouth, especially at age 26, but in the end it'll be amazing!

I got lavender ligs this time b/c of my daughters dedication in a few weeks, but at my next appt I'm definitely getting the screaming pink!!! Good luck!

Awww! You got 4 teeth extracted?! I just had my records appointment for the x rays and molds last week and will go to my second consultation/treatment plan next week. My general dentist said my teeth are ready for braces; I have 12 upper teeth, the first molars both left and right were removed because it was cracked, then I still have 14 lower teeth including 2 wisdom teeth still growing fine and they're not impacted,I still have not taken them out because I did not have insurance before; But yes Im all excited and nervous at the same time! Life changing experience, because I can have more confidence in my appearance,it's been a while since I smiled on all the pictures!

Thank you so much for your reply! Keep me posted! :)
