Hi Guys

Am officially part of the braces community!

Yes got them on top and bottom yesterday before lunch. I was fine with the brackets but as soon as the wire was put on the pressure was quite something.
The ortho said ill probably experience more pressure as a result of the position of my teeth just now. Because they are in a arch shape and not curved.
It took alot of time to adjust to the feeling of something like tin foil was stuck in my mouth and the overwhelming urge to pull it out. A really strange feeling. Mine have also got hooks on so it feels sooo wierd.
Tried to eat a sandwhich and a pot of melon and grapes but even putting them in my mouth was a strange feeling, felt a bit sick when my teeth felt wobbly.
Couldnt wait to go to sleep, as soon as half nine came i got in to my pit after taking paracetamol and prayed id fall asleep.
Woke up at 2 in morning with pain in front teeth and lower left teeth so tried to sleep again and found it was quite painful at 7 am so took some more pain relief. Still getting used to the feeling of metal stuck in my mouth. How are you guys getting on ?

Great your treatment has started pearly!

Some people take a few days to adjust, others a few weeks ... the best thing to remember is that you will adjust and hopefully it will be within a week.

Remember to keep well hydrated, rinse with warm salt water and use wax generously if any brackets rub. Then focus on chewing ... this helps your mouth feel better and also helps you to get your confidence back when eating.

It's amazing that your teeth are feeling loose already ... maybe this means your teeth will also progress faster than most! Good luck!

Awesome Pearly!!! Happy for you! It'll get much better..give it a few weeks and you'll feel better!!! I was doing much better by the 4th week or so, and eating normally within 2 months. I think a lot of other people were eating better earlier, but I had a hard time. Now I am 9.5 months in and can eat almost anything, and I don't think twice about my braces. I am so grateful for them...it's not the easiest thing in the world, but I have spent way too much of my life "wishing" for them, and so glad I was finally able to do it!!!
Keep taking the pain relievers as you need, wax is your BEST friend...put it on as soon as you feel the need....there is nothing worse than a brackets rubbing into a sore mouth and the sense of relief you get when you put the wax on is just amazing! Use lots of chapstick, I actually prefer the jar of vaseline myself..I keep one at my desk and in my bathroom and I slather it on...drink lots of water...hang in there!!!!
