No surgery here, but I think you're doing great thinking carefully about the process and choosing what is best for you Pearlywhites.

Hopefully you won't find the adjustments painful, and that this whole experience will go well for you. Most people don't find them painful, although some do experience some discomfort for a few hours, or even a day or two. Of course we all experience discomfort/pain in different ways, but there's over the counter meds to help with both ... plus chewing is great for your teeth, if they're feeling a bit sore.

I've had one adjustment that left me feeling some discomfort for more than a few hours ... and that was last year ... about three years into my treatment. I'm guessing my next adjustment might be a challenge, as I've not had one for so long, due to caring for my hubby who had terminal cancer. I've had time off work for that, and now I'm on breavement leave ... but I'll return to work soon and also my next adjustment, so here's hoping it's a nice one!

Good luck with your orthodontic treatment!
