Today I feel much better. I am grateful for the advice i received from people in this blog, telling me that things would get better

The pain and discomfort with the lingual braces (ibraces) has diminished a lot. It did get much worse after the first day, but I didn't develop any blisters or sores on my mouth, mostly for following the advice I got on this forum, to not "baby" my mouth too much with wax (I think it was Sunny). I now feel much better, it is not painful at all. Not super comfortable, but not painful anymore.

The speech is a little funny. Some people don't notice it at all, some people notice some, but they all tell me it is better than I think it is. At night, when I am tired, it certainly gets worse.

Eating is OK, again, advice that I got from this forum helped me a lot. Someone said something about not being afraid to eat with braces, and that's what I did. During the first 3 days I ate mashed potatoes, yogurt and pasta, but now I can eat harder things. Then I ventured onto harder things, like cooked potatoes, fruits, bread, cookies, and it is going well.

Brushing my teeth is now a lot or work. I have to be honest that I haven't tried flossing yet, (I know, my bad..) it seems hard to do with the threads and super time consuming. I will try tonight.

Anyways, thanks a lot for all the help and encouragement,

Pepper

Fantastic that you're feeling heaps better already ... attitude does play a huge role in this whole process!

Wax is great, as are salt water rinses and keeping yourself well hydrated. When I recommend not babying your mouth I'm referring to eating and enjoying your food ... even if this does mean cutting it into small pieces.

I found with my braces, I often lisp when I'm tired. I think in my case it's more to do with my lips having to move further and also the many changes in my bite and the way my teeth and tongue interact. Friends I've mentioned this to, tel lme they don't notice ... so again I think it's one of those things we feel is really noticable, but for others ... it's a non event.

Good luck and here's to everything continuing to get better!
