hi everyone,

today is my first day with ibraces. i put both upper and lower ibraces on the same day. it took 4 hours for the ortho to put them in, and while it took a long time it was not so uncomfortable.

it now feels very weird. nothing is painful so far but it is weird to have all this stuff in my mouth. eating is strange, hot food or beverages make the wire tighten a bit. i don't have blisters on my tongue for now, i think it should happen in the next few days. i can't eat everything i want, i am mostly eating soft food. the food gets caught on the braces, it makes me wanna brush right away. even the list of allowed food is hard to eat.

speech is funny, noticeable but not horrible. words with s and c are the hardest.

i am worried if i can adjust, i am worried about kissing etc... and if it will ever get comfortable. we will see...

i am 38 years old and i chose ibraces because i could not imagine someone at my age having regular braces, my specific case is not so bad, so if i can't adjust i will take them off for sure and not wear braces, but i will give it a try before that...

i will post my progress, hopefully it will be helpful to someone.

oo goodluck. i'm sure you will adjust to the change. braces of any kind are definitely create a big lifestyle change temporarily, but you'll be used to them before you know it! what exactly is "ibraces?" good luck with your treatment

Great your treatment has started pepper!

It does take some adjusting to the brackets, no matter what type you have, but you will adjust ... never loose that thought! Keep your hydration levels high and use wax generously if any of the brackets are rubbing.

At 38, you're not old when it comes to adults having orthodontic treatment, so please cut yourself some slack in that area.

Good luck with you adjusting quickly!

    Thanks sunny and smile786!
Nice words like yours sure make me feel better.

I will give it more time. Today it is the second day (30 hours or so), and while it hurts a little more (tongue) a few times I catch myself not noticing they are there...
The speech got worse today, as predicted, and I am not using any wax yet, to get the tongue adjusted.
    Let's see

(ibraces are lingual metal braces, worn on the back side of your teeth. They are invisible to other people, but there is a lot discomfort in the beginning)
