  1. powerchains and questions

    by , 05-16-2010 at 12:46 PM
I have a couple of questions for you guys, I hope someone can help me.

In march I got my first powerchains, linking my lower front teeth only. My ortho was/is trying to close a gap created when a front lower tooth was removed (a smaller fake tooth was put on its place and it has been shaved off to make room for movement). This past week I got new powerchains, linking all teeth on the upper and lower parts. In addition I got a new archwire on top, that according to my ortho ...

  2. fist powerchains

    by , 03-16-2010 at 12:41 PM
Today I had my first set of powerchains put on my lower braces, to close the gap of the lower front teeth that was extracted. The "fake" tooth was shaved a bit to make space for the movement. No pain yet, but I know it is coming soon...

As an adult in braces I am surprised on how much I think about my teeth since I got the braces on. It all seems so interesting...

    Cheers to all,

  3. second wire and spinach

    by , 12-18-2009 at 02:33 PM
I had my second archwire put on last week. It was a little painful, but nor so bad. The funny thing is that again, just like after my braces were put on, one of my upper most front teeth got misaligned in relation to its neighbor, so now they look crooked, which they were not in the beginning of the treatment (see pics in my album). Last time when it happened the Ortho changed one of the brackets and they went back to normal. I don't understand why it happened again. Does anyone know what would ...

  4. Over 2 months with lingual braces

    by , 11-21-2009 at 07:40 PM
It's been over two months since I had lingual braces (ibraces) put on.

In the beginning it was VERY uncomfortable, but I am happy to say that it is not anymore. I don't feel any pain, I don't feel the braces at all!!

The adjustment to the braces took 2-3 weeks. The lisp/speech difficulties took 3 weeks or so to get better. I still speak with with a VERY small lisp, but it is really subtle and most people don't notice and it is really not as bad as people say. I am ...

  5. Over 2 weeks with ibraces and HAPPY

    by , 09-25-2009 at 09:21 PM
It has now been 18 days since I had my ibraces (lingual braces) put on. So much better

I don't feel any pain whatsoever or any discomfort of any kind. My tongue is 100% adapted to the braces and I don't have any discomfort with that either. In the last 2 weeks or so I never had any cuts or bleeding, just a sore tongue for the first week. I used wax only once (I really didn't like it, despite the relief that it can give)

The speech is much better, everyone at work ...

  6. Day 5 with ibraces

    by , 09-13-2009 at 05:14 PM
Today I feel much better. I am grateful for the advice i received from people in this blog, telling me that things would get better

The pain and discomfort with the lingual braces (ibraces) has diminished a lot. It did get much worse after the first day, but I didn't develop any blisters or sores on my mouth, mostly for following the advice I got on this forum, to not "baby" my mouth too much with wax (I think it was Sunny). I now feel much better, it is not painful at ...

  7. first day with ibraces

    by , 09-08-2009 at 09:44 PM
    hi everyone,

today is my first day with ibraces. i put both upper and lower ibraces on the same day. it took 4 hours for the ortho to put them in, and while it took a long time it was not so uncomfortable.

it now feels very weird. nothing is painful so far but it is weird to have all this stuff in my mouth. eating is strange, hot food or beverages make the wire tighten a bit. i don't have blisters on my tongue for now, i think it should happen in the next few days. ...
